On Flash Games 62 – Help The Hero

It’s hard to find a good job in this economy.

Greetings, dear readers! On Flash Games reaches the 61st mile covering Help The Hero. Take it for a spin on Kongregate here. This one’s a great puzzler, casting you in the role of the assistant to a pompous knight, Count Thrashwoode. Now, figuratively, you follow the Count on his quests, and stash away his treasure he finds. By “stash”, mind you, I mean tetris them into the Count’s inventory screen, just like in Diablo or Fate or the like. I need to get such an assistant on my next dungeon crawl. You then pick through your findings, and equip the count to fight the bosses at the ends of said quests. The treasure upgrades the Count’s rating in one of four areas: Attack, Defense, Ranged, and Magic.  The bosses are also stacked in those four categories, and the game compares each category to each other, counting wins. Whomever wins in more categories is the winner of the battle, with ties decided by a spinner. This is an innovative system, but the strategy is very simple: ignore one stat and boost the other three, and you’ll rarely lose.
Help the Hero has attractive graphics and UI, and clever voice-acting, provided by EgoRaptor, which you may remember from Sony’s sad reality-farce-PlayStation3-commercial, the Tester. Another great game – 5/5. Kong’s had a good run of late.
