Shirlyn, you need to account for profit per hour not overall profit margin... subtract the cost of the seed from the sell price of the plant and divide by the number of hours it takes to be ready to harvest... this will tell you which plants give you the most profit per hour which is a much better metric than the one you speak of to maximize capital growth.

I don't know how you are evaluating profit to recommend soybeans. By my calculations (yeah, I'm so addicted I keep spreadsheets on crops and friends) this is not true. What I found was once you reach a certain level, the profit margin changes. I have used this to my advantage by planting crops with the best return and keeping a small section for every new crop at each level so I can work toward another ribbon. I also spent one whole day not gifting anyone so I could use all 20 of the combined gifts and neighbors -- I maxed out my blue ribbon in a day and now can gift almost all of my neighbors each day.

These are great points. I find it helps if you have friends who are in higher levels, so they can gift you stuff that you cant buy.

interesting name carrington quite rare! just becom addicted to farmvill along with the rest of my family, i agree the best way to get to higher levels is to pack as much as possible on your farm and buy the cheapest buildings and decorations to achieve required levels for ribbons the sell them off.
regards, don carrington,(cornwall, england)

Actually, I disagree about the crops thing. I've been playing for months and except to get the "Green Thumb" ribbon I only harvest soybeans because you get an over 400% profit. It's got the biggest cost-to-profit ratio. Then, even as I was trying to get the "Green Thumb" ribbon I would only plant, like, 5 of any other crop. So I would suggest only planting soybeans because you will get more profit for your buck.
