Boosting Your Score

You need more than some random upgrades to succeed in online strategy games. Well, you need a strategy. And this is a way to help you have one.

Online strategy games are great fun, but there always comes a moment when the game becomes too demanding and it needs more and more time if you want to survive. After all, you are just an average user who clicks to make an upgrade in the office when your boss is not looking, or in the school between classes, or at home before your wife tells you to stop fooling around with that box.

But there are always some geeks playing the same game with you, who don’t really have nothing else to do so spend incredible amounts of hours in front of the same browser game. And you realize that you can’t compete with them.

All you need is a sound plan

Good news is, you don’t really need to spend extra long hours to develop your cities or armies, or space bases, or whatever. Assuming that you already pay attention to your game not less than a considerable amount of time, all you need is a solid plan. After all, these games are called strategy games for a reason.

Ok, I know that I don’t sound like I give you the hottest tip. Of course you know that this is a strategy game and of course you have a plan…  or, do you really have one?

Each game has different characteristics and they all need a new kind of approach to achieve the goal of winning others. So it is up to you decide whether you should have a defensive strategy or an offensive one, whether you should build mines or take from others. But just having a basic strategy is not enough.

I know how tempting it can be to spend your accumulated resources to produce great amounts of weapons while in fact you were saving those resources for a major upgrade. Or you may quickly get confused about what you were supposed to do with your saved resources, and perhaps you click to upgrade A while in fact you initially intended to upgrade B.

Keep notes and be loyal to your notes

What you need to do has nothing to do with spending extra hours in front of your PC for your favorite browser game. You can spend as much time as you are already used to, but boost your level anyway. What you need is a solid plan. You should keep notes about what you intend to do for your next step, and more importantly, you should be loyal to your plan.

In order to do that, you must first of all understand the basics of the game you are playing and you should have a strategy based on this. In fact, this is the most important thing, because seriously, a wrong strategy will take you nowhere. So if the game you are playing suggests that a defensive strategy works better rather than attacking every other player around, then there is no use building offensive weapons.

But then, assuming that you understand which strategy it needs to succeed in the game, you should really make a road map, and plan your steps. And more importantly, you should really stick to your plan so that you won’t suddenly change your mind and spend all your resources for something you didn’t plan in the first place.

Write down your notes

Ok now, a piece of paper and a pen are more than enough to do this. Just write down your plan and follow it. But we are talking about browser games here, so it would be more fun -and somehow more efficient to use some online tools for the task. Internet is full free tools to keep you organized, and I am going to talk about one of these tools in the second part. You can read it here.
