Cafe World Facebook Review

Cafe World is no doubt inspired by Restaurant City, so comparing Zynga’s Cafe World to Play Fish’s Restaurant City will give us a good indication of how Cafe World stacks up.

Graphics 8/10
The cartoonish graphics in Cafe World are combined with a pixel stiffness which creates awesome looking avatars, however I think the soft cartoon graphics in the elements of Restaurant City are more attractive. This does however give Cafe World a more detailed look. Kudos must be given to any game that doesn’t end up like Adventure Quest where all their items are different from each other, some animated, some high quality while others are just 2 minute vectors.

Items 9/10
For a new game, alot of items have been released, they have really done their homework and created some great theme sets. Many of the items decorate the cafe, and value of an item does not increase it’s effect. Consideration of the cost, like an increase of Buzz or faster cooking would be better.

Revenue System 9/10
The main revenue system is like many of Zynga’s games such as Roller-coaster tycoon and Farmville, which again, another idea taken from another company, Farm Town and made better. Items are individually cooked and then severed after a time period. Profits are very high at around 50% – 800%. This system means that you don’t have to feed yourself or your staff, and you do not need to find ingredients before you can prepare a meal. However this does mean that your food can spoil, the spoil time is roughly the time it took to cook, just like Farmville time to plant is time before the crop dies.

Recipes 7/10
Recipes are unlocked as you level up, you don’t need to find ingredients to prepare a meal, and the best thing to do is just to cook one dish, as you can prepare and serve it in the same amount of time and make effective profits while only taking up one serving table. Recipes are just names, your customers will eat what ever you serve! Many cooking games customers are picky about what they want to order, adding a similar function to this will complicate the game a bit, but maybe those customers pay more.

Gifts 3/10
Gifts are items that you click and all your customers are forced to pay you the cost of that item. Normally its a beverage, or sometimes a coffee. This game does lack coffee even though the name of it is “Cafe World”. Items that can be placed into your cafe would be better than something that your friends won’t even see.

Flooring & Wall Paper 2/10
The only good thing about flooring and wall paper is that there is a range to choose from and can be used to create themes, but what lowers my rating for this is the fact that you must pay for each tile or section of wall paper individually. A piece of wall paper rangers from 10 to 8000 coins, covering a cafe with the most expensive wall paper currently will put a big whole in your wallet.

Interactivity 1/10
Zygna makes some of the best games even if they remake alot. One thing I see Zygna lacking is the interactivity. You are able to hire friends in Cafe World to work for you, your friends visit you as customers, you can visit your friends cafe, and when you go to your friends cafe, other friends will show up. But of course it doesn’t mean anything if there is no interactivity where you can talk to another person live in the game. This will boost people playing for longer periods.

Outside your cafe 1/10
The only place you can go out of your cafe is to your friend’s cafes. A market place or something similar will give the game a real economy with rare items will improve the game to make it more fun. Its pretty dull as there are no actual “non playing characters” you can talk to on demand.

Character 9.5/10
I think the greatest part of this game is their characters, although the wardrobe is still very empty, some nice combinations are available for a reasonable price to make your avatars stylish. Don’t be surprised if your friends accidentally look like you because of the current limited range!

Cafe World is definitely worth checking out, if your a facebook gamer or just a casual user you’ll find many of your friends already there and cooking up a storm. This game will be as successful as Farmville, and you better start playing now if you don’t want to be left in the dust!
Overall 7.5/10
