Champions Online: Resource Farming

Introduction

With the crazy cost of respecs and materials a lot of people find themselves short on cash without viable means of farming resources quickly, this guide is to help you to be able to make a large amount of resources in a rather short amount of time. This guide will include all of the requirements, rewards and methods of doing so.

Requirements

• Minimum Level 35 (Recommended 40)
• Ability to self heal (Arcane vitality, resurgence etc)
• Fast travel power (Recommended teleport)
• Inventory space
• Large amount of single target DPS
• A level 40 friend with all requirements (Halves profit but makes it a lot faster to farm)
• Knowledge of Moreau’s Lab
• Arms Crafting

Method

If you meet all of the above requirements you’re ready to start to farm resources. To do this you need to head to Moreau’s Lab on Monster Island (Shown on the map by a large cage icon). To do this the quickest way possible you need to avoid ALL combat up until the White Rhino boss fight in the final room. Whilst travelling through the instance you will find a lot of Viper and Manimals fighting, these can block the doors and make for a very quick death which is why teleport is suggested (Can travel through npcs while phased). Also take note that you’re able to block while in phased mode, just be sure to hit shift each time you re-enter the phase. If you’re doing this with a friend be sure to try to wait until hitting the cut scene locations so that you’re both ready to continue.

Just before the last room, inside the tunnel, you will see a small group of Manimals, clear these out and move into the final boss room. Ahead of you on the left and right you will see two sets of Manimals, clear these out. Careful how close you get as you can start the boss fight a little early and it can get rather ugly, once these are dead move a very short distance past where they spawn to start the fight.

After the cut scene you want to pull White Rhino back into the cave area to avoid Dr Moreau healing him and also avoiding the wave of (t) rats that can interrupt the fight. With decent level 40 gear and a strong build Whine Rhino can hit 1-2k per melee hit (roughly every 2-3 seconds) but he also has a rather nasty arsenal of power up attacks. The charge attack is harmless, animation shows him shaking his feet ready to charge, if blocked it will do next to no damage and leave White Rhino on his backside for a second or two. The other two charge powers he has are a little different. One is a single target hit for up to 4k (without block) the other is an AoE that can hit upwards of 5k as well as a small chance to hold the targets. This attacked must be blocked every time if you hope to do this quickly.

Hopefully you have bought a friend, it can be a long fight solo (unless you exploit overpowered moves) but with two people it can be done in 4-5 minutes. Switch aggro between each other, its always best if one of you has a viable tank build that can keep the aggro while the other pumps out the DPS.

Once he is dead the quickest way to redo the instance is to let whoever isn’t the leader to drop group and use the quick exit “leave now” button, the leader will remain in the instance.  The leader then queues for a PvP game and leaves it right away, leave to a separate instance of Monster Island so that both you and your friend are on two different shards. The leader then enters Moreau’s Lab again and once inside you invite your friend. This resets the instance instantly and allows for repeat farming.

Rewards

Once you defeat White Rhino he will drop White Rhino DNA and RNA (these have a 100% drop rate), he also has a high chance (roughly 80%) of dropping a blue worth 1 global. The DNA and RNA can be researched by an arms crafter to get anything up to 20 Questionite for each item, 2 per run, roughly 10 minutes a run. For the full 20 Questionite, minimum selling price is 3g each, 60 global in ten minutes, even halved with a friend this is great profit. Both the items are BoP (Bind on pickup) so be sure to change the loot mode to master looter with threshold minimum of green, this will make sure that you can choose who gets the items so that you don’t waste runs giving a non arms crafter the loot.  Please don’t undercut on the auction house, never drop below 3g a piece, this is selling very quickly at the moment and undercutting will just destroy the market and my wallet
