It was actually made for children. Club penguin which has stolen the hearts of youngsters are losing older players due to its “childish” interface and cute looking penguins. Anyway, it is actually made for children and not for adults. Club penguin was made to promote safe gaming among young children as most of the online games before club penguin were made for teenagers and young adults. However, there were lots of changes to it to make it more “matured” so that to promote the game to teenagers as well. The game is quite simple and there is nothing required to do except earning coins from playing the games in there. You can also meet other penguins using your penguin avatars. Moreover, you can participate in activities and play mini games in the snow covered world.
Although the game is free, subscription to membership should me made to enjoy other benefits like clothing, furniture and domesticated animals. They also have the ability to enter VIP rooms and are more respected. One of the hugely popular activities in Club Penguin is the Party which happen monthly. The island is decorated with the specific designs suited for the theme and non members profit the most as they get free stuff. However, there are a lot of criticism behind its back. Sometimes, it is called as member’s only game as non members don’t get the privilege of buying clothes, igloos, items, furniture and domestic animals. While club penguin promotes child safety when online, why does it engage children in the first place? Also, we cannot always determine that all the players in club penguin are children.
