Club Penguin Parties and Events
Why they’re such a big deal among the Devs and the players.
Parties in real life are fun, right? With all the decorations and merriment, you know? It’s all the same in Club Penguin. In Club Penguin, a party is held at least once a month (most of the time, it’s once per month, but a party for the month after sometimes starts in the last days of the previous one). At the parties, (usually) most rooms in Club Penguin will be decked out in the theme of the party. For example, at the recent Puffle Party of February 2009, popular rooms such as the Plaza, Town, and Snow Forts were decorated specially for the event with colorful banners and other adornments.
So you’re thinking, why do the Devs (Developers) care so much? Well, they actually redraw and recolor the entire decorated room just for the party, according to evidence posted on the What’s New page. As for the players, we like exploring all of the rooms to see how cool the Devs made them! If you’ve never tried it before, just visiting all the rooms can actually be quite entertaining and fun. In addition, special limited-edition free items (for both non-members and members alike) can be found in a certain room only for the duration of the party, which is usually about 3-7 days. However, recent evidence has revealed that all items given out at parties will return in later parties, usually a couple of months after the first distribution, so if you missed it, don’t despair! Also, if the date a new secret pin comes out falls on a day of the party, the pin is probably related to the theme of the party, which gives good hints about what it could look like. In Christmas 2007, a special player card item was available in the newspaper for the party, which was considered a pin and will never repeat (see below).
The only exception to the normal parties is the Anniversary Party. Commemorating the anniversary of Club Penguin, these parties are only held for one day (October 23, because it’s the anniversary). This means that there have only been three in the history of Club Penguin, from the launch in 2005. To make it even more different, the striped partyhats that are given out will never return at a future anniversary (like secret pins), as shown in recent evidence. It is also the only party that decorates just one room: the Coffee Shop, which the hats are inside of too. However, in 2008, the Town was also decorated for a special anniversary event in New York. Note: the Devs may change their style, but for the years of 2006 and 2007, not many knew about the anniversary party apart from announcements on the What’s New page just because the decorations were not visible in popular rooms.
My advice is to keep your eyes open for secrets. Many things can be found, some significant and some not, just by scrolling over things and picking up small clues. This is especially good during parties; in fact, from my experience, the Devs seem to like to hide things this way.

Very nice article.
