Facebook Application: Mafia Wars
I never knew that being bad could be so much fun…join a life of crime in the Mafia Wars Game on Facebook and enjoy being nasty.
Addiction comes in many forms on facebook. Here’s another facebook application which I was introduced to because a friend is deeply addicted. He actually called me up to tell me to join his Mafia after he sent his request over online. I told him I was not playing anything violent, and he said don’t play at all! Just join up so that my Mafia Strenght goes up…Now this sounded really desperate on the phone, so I gave in and joined his Mafia.
Then I thought no more about it and carried on farming on Farmville. Add a bit of word twist and I was a happy soul. Till the day that I got a gift request from another friend who was part of my friend’s circle and so automatically part of my Mafia. That’s where I got suckered in. I decided to take a look at what I could do with a tacticle shotgun. Guess my surprise when I see that without playing a single shot I was already at level 13 and had mafia cash to my name!
It was exciting discovering this bad, yet not really bad world. There is no real expression of violence like in the other “boy” video games. Its a step by step ascent to greater levels of crime in a Mafia. Levels one to four see you as a Street Thug! Yes you indulge in petty crime such as Mugging, Corner Store Hold-Ups, warehouse robbery, and even Auto theft. You also get to beat up a rival gangster, rob a pimp and collect on a loan with a baseball bat!
And eventually you go from being an Associate to Soldier to Enforcer to Hitman to Capo to Consiqliere (that’s how far as I’ve got at level 44!) yes I started playing Mafia Wars and love to add boosts that power up my strikes. Its pathetic I’m a grown woman with a kid and here I am mugging virtual mobsters! But its such great fun….

Nice article…:)
I enjoyed your article though I don’t know much about it!
I have yet to really get caught up in Mafia Wars, though I was a pretty intense farmer for a while. I find that most days, I barely have time to check for messages, let alone get caught up in the gaming apps. Good write, though.
I should try it sometime. I used to be a prolific gamer until I became a parent!!
I’m happy you’re having fun. Doing so-called unconventional things is a good way of driving away boredom and making oneself happy.
You really should Vikram, its great fun.
Ashan, I went through that phrase too…am relaxing now.
