Farm Town and Farmville: My Strategy

The key to success is to gain experience quickly without bankrupting yourself.

Welcome to the outline of my Farm Town strategy. For those of you not “in the know”, Farm Town in a farming game on Facebook, very similar to another popular farming game by the name of FarmVille. Both games follow the same basic formula. Your objective is to gain experience as a farmer, allowing you to unlock new farming tools which allow you to plow, plant and harvest quicker. The key to success in either of these games is to gain experience quickly without bankrupting yourself.

Firstly, you’ll want to plant grapes in Farm Town. After plowing your fields, plant as many grapes as you possibly can. You also need to insure that you will be online 4 hours later, so that you can harvest them when they are ripe. If they remain ripe, but unharvested, for too long a time, they will go rotten, and you will gain nothing for them. You will have to replow and replant all your fields, which will waste a lot of your time and a lot of your money. This is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when starting off.

You’ll almost undoubtedly find that you are low on land almost constantly. You’ll have more coins than you can possibly spend. In order to get a few extra fields on your farm, go to the options button (the spanner image) and choose to “remove space between fields”. This will allow you to plow more fields on your farm. It will, however, make your farm look a bit cluttered, which will not be appealing to those people who want to not only develop their experience and coins, but also the beauty and appearance of their farming masterpieces.

The last tip I have for making extra coins is to not only work on other people’s farms (by asking for harvesting and plowing jobs), but also to get people to plow and harvest for you. This will not only save you time (if you hire multiple people), but actually works out better for your finances. Instead of paying 20 coins per field you plow, it will only cost your 15. For your crops, you’ll earn 25% more coins per crop, even though people are being paid to harvest them for you. The quickest way to improve on Farm Town and FarmVille is through smart planning and co-ordinated team work.
