Farmville: 10 No-Nos

If you want to level up and develop effectively in Farmville then these are the 10 things you should avoid! If you want a fun and good looking farm then these don’t apply to you…

  1. Try to avoid buying any building earl on in the game. They cost a lot of coins and don’t give you anything in return for buying them (such as faster plowing), except of course ribbons. There is one thing you get when you buy them which is experience points, these are good so if you have lots of spare coins you could buy a building and thins will level you quicker; be careful though, it does drain your coins fast!
  2. Another thing you should avoid buying is too many decorations! Like buildings, all they offer you if looks, experience and ribbons. They are usually cheaper than buildings but you gain less experience. You could even sell the decorations after purchase if all you want is the rubbons and experience. These are also best to be bought when you have lots of spare cash.
  3. Farm cash is a rare thing to get, so make sure you save it until you really need something! Fuel refills can benefit you, but once you have used them they are gone. Building and decorations however are permanent! Spending farm cash on fuel benefits you in the short term, whereas building/decorations benefit you in the long term, but remember, decorations are practically useless! You choose what is the best option for yourself.
  4. Try to avoid buying seeds that will give you a poor profit. Fuel can be scarce and wasting it on crops which will only get you a tiny bit of profit is pointless. Experiment with the crops you can choose from to see which fits your lifestyle best. Please take into consideration the amount of time you play each day, this should greatly affect your choice of crop.
  5. Try to avoid plowing, harvesting and seeding by hand! Try to use the appropriate vehicles as this will save you lots of time! If you enjoy clicking 4 times more than you need to then you can do it the old fashioned way! It will of course save money but will take you 4 times longer than it would with the vehicles!
  6. Try to avoid buying trees and animals! This is because there is no farm equipment that automatically collects there produce. It takes a long time to manually harvest them. Only use trees and animals for the ribbons, then sell them. unless of course you enjoy the sound they make and don’t mind the time it takes to collect there offerings!)
  7. Try to avoid expanding your farm unless you have lots of spare cash! It is good to expand your farm but make sure you will have enough coins left over to fill it with crops. It is really upsetting if you expand and then you only have enough coins for 2 crops!
  8. Try to avoid helping out your neighbours! It is a waste of time helping someone out on there farm, scaring crows etc., when all you receive is very little coins and experience points! I suggest you help neighbours until you get your ribbon for it. When you help your neighbours, they don’t gain anything from it except a notification saying you helped out! I would recommend giving gifts instead, since it a lovely gesture and they will most likely return the favour!
  9. Try to avoid playing at the same time each day! You need to make the most out of your fuel (it takes 6 hours to fully refill 150 unites, you work out how much for 1 unit!) by playing more often! You will get the most out of your fuel this way, as every few minutes you receive 1 fuel refill. So going on every few hours to make the most out of your fuel would be a great idea!
  10. Try to avoid making your farms layout look amazing! (unless you just want it to look good, it isn’t a bad thing for it too look good!). You will get the most money by having all of your land plowed and growing crops! You could also cover it with animals and trees, but i suggest crops because then you can make the most out of your tractor, harvester and seeder!

Helping neighbors is actually the fastest, easiest way to get experience. You should help your neighbors every day and it will really start to add up.

I’d say this guide is more of a “how not to get sick of farmville” guide than great advice. If you expand your farm more plots=more exp/day more $/day. It’s pretty much always a better way to spend FV’s than buildings that you’re just going to cash in for exp and coin. Coin grows on trees, FV’s don’t. In larger plots you will run out of fuel for your vehicles, but they save a hundred clicks or so if you’re high level and hardcore yes. If you help a neighbor it’s 10exp in 5 mnutes, which adds up to a lot more than 0.5exp/hr (best crop exp) and it doesn’t hurt for them to do it back and give you more bonus exp. Especially if you’ve got a lot of friends.

So with the exception of 3, 7, and 8, this is pretty OK advice. Most of it isn’t terribly relevant as a kindergartener can figure out that you don’t buy a building for all of your cash before planting, and it’s that kind of advice.
