Gaia Online Guide

Hi there, this is a basic guide to a few of the various features of the website and browser-based MMORPG Gaia. I will start with the basics.

Once you sign up for Gaia Online you will be able to do many things. You can visit the forums, play some of the games on Gaia, including a full combat MMORPG called zOmg, dress up your avatar or watch movies just to name a few. Now don’t be overwhelmed immediately by trying out everything at once. Take your time, try one or two things out at a time and get used to the website. I recommend checking out the forums first, introduce yourself on the “Welcome to Gaia” board and maybe join in on some discussions. There is a huge player-base for Gaia Online, and you will certainly be able to find a topic you can talk about as there is a board for almost anything. Now we will get to a few of the aspects of Gaia.

Making Money

First off the main currency in Gaia is Gaia Gold. You can earn gold doing all sorts of things, like playing the games I mentioned earlier or posting on the forums. However the gold earning from those activities usually is limited. It is often enough to get started but unless you save for years, not enough for the more expensive items. Instead here are some tips to make money a lot faster in Gaia Online.

Posting – Make sure that you post a few times everyday. Take part in some contests in the Chatterbox, join a discussion do whatever. The first posts will net you quite a bit of gold, usually between 75 and 30 per post. However the more posts you do in a short time the less gold you make. Eventually you will only be getting 1 or 2 gold a post. Try and optimize your posting by spreading it out. Post a bunch in the morning, some more around noon and more later at night.

Daily Chance – The best free way of earning money. Once every day when you log in you can go to each of the main pages (i.e. Home, My Gaia, Shop etc.) and click on the daily chance. You can get anywhere from 5 gold to a rare item worth a couple thousand gold. The amount of effort it takes to click these daily chance icons makes it a much faster way of earning money than posting on the boards.

Aquarium – The aquarium is a tough one. It is very similar to the daily chance in that once each day you get a prize. The prizes from the aquarium are often much better than the daily chance prizes as well. However you must keep fish in your aquarium and keep them happy in order to get these prizes each day. Initially you are give some fish but they die after awhile requiring you to replace them with new fish. These fish can be expensive ranging from 700 gold to almost 100,000. I recommend if you are looking to make money just use the Cuttlefish you sometimes win in daily chance.

The Marketplace – This is probably the best way to make money in Gaia Online. It is not easy to start but once you have a small amount to begin investing it is by far the fastest method of making money. The object is obviously to by low sell high. If you are limited in your backing finance remember a few things for the best profits. First turnaround in your gold is one of the most important things. Especially on hot items the market price can jump so easily you don’t want to leave your items for sale for too long. Instead look to buy items for 10% or more off the lowest buy now price. Then list the item at a price that someone will still percieve the item as a deal. That way your item will sell fast and you will be able to buy another item. Losing say 50 gold is worth it in order to buy another 5K gold item in the time it takes to sell.

Trends – There are quite a few trends in Gaiaand if you are quick to jump on them you can make gold quick. One very recent one was zOmg. Many people made a lot of gold from zOmg by playing the game and winning rings while they progress and then selling those rings to others. Also while you played the game you earned plenty of gold. Other such things are new cash shop items IE and Monthly Collectibles.

Avatar Creation

Tektek.org – The most important tool when it comes to avatar creation. Tektek.org has many applications that can be useful for the Gaia user. One of the most commonly used is the Dream Avatar application. It allows you to go through every single item that Gaia has to offer and using an avatar base model add it all all the possible choices together and see what you like. The application will also provide the daily lowest buy now price so you can get an idea of how much your avatar will cost.

Forum Help – You can often get some ideas from people on the message boards whether it comes to opinions or maybe a complete revamp of your avatar. There are many people that love to use Tektek so just ask I guarentee someone will help.
