How to Reduce Farm Town’s Glitches
Farm Town is buggy, time-consuming, aggravating. .. and addicting. Face it; you’re going to keep playing even though the glitches in gameplay are so frustrating. But you can reduce your irritation. Read these tips on how to avoid or circumvent most of Farm Town´s obnoxious little errors.
Bug #1: You Can’t See Anyone in the Marketplace
Try these tips in order. If the first doesn’t work, then move on to the second.
- Refresh the marketplace.
- Refresh Farm Town.
- Visit a neighbor, then come back to the marketplace. This often works when refreshing doesn’t.
- Refresh Facebook.
- Close and reopen your browser.
- Try again later. (Although it is annoying, sometimes nothing can be done; the game often malfunctions beyond hope.)
Bug #2: Your Avatar Wanders Around for No Reason
Sometimes a farmer walks all over a farm, in huge circles, just to reach the square immediately next to his original location. You cannot completely avoid this issue, but you can decrease its frequency.
- Work systematically.
- Experiment with different directions. Usually, it’s best to work from the bottom left to the top right.
- Harvest four or five squares in your chosen direction, then move to the row immediately below you and repeat.
- If your avatar harvests two or three squares without moving, then continue harvesting in exactly the same manner. (I.e., if you’re harvesting a row in one direction, then continue to harvest that row until the edge of the screen. Then harvest the next row, starting on the same end and progressing in the same direction. Repeat.)
- In your own farm, don’t build paths or leave spaces between fields. If you do, then the avatar wants to use the paths often, resulting in many roundabout trips.
Bug #3: You Can’t Plow a Harvested Field
Occasionally, no matter how many times you click on a certain square, it will not respond. Luckily, that space is not doomed to lay fallow forever.
- Zoom in, then click on the square again. This clarifies which square you are trying to plow.
- Delete the square. Often, this reveals a plowed field beneath the harvested one. If it doesn’t, then simply re-plow the empty square.
Bug #4: You Can’t Plant a Plowed Field
- Zoom in. Again, this clarifies which square you are trying to click.
- Play in full-screen mode. The game often operates more smoothly in full screen.
- Plant a different square, then return to the troublesome square.
Bottom Line
Be patient with the game, and don’t let the glitches discourage you from playing. Experiment to see what works best. Don’t give up.

Wow, these are pretty good fixes (albeit short.) Thanks for the article though, it should help us less fortunate glitchy-prone Farmtown Players, myself included.
