Perfect World Features
An overview of the many and wonderful features of the free MMORPG Perfect World.
I’ve been searching for the perfect free mmorpg with great graphics, game play, character customization, unique features, and decent quests. Well, I got much more than that; I got a Perfect World. The game Perfect World is for the PC, an mmorpg, that is free to download and free to play.
Character Creation
Have you ever wanted to create a character in a game that looks like you? Or do you prefer to create someone else entirely? In a Perfect World you are virtually unlimited. There are a variety of hairstyles for each character class, fully customizable faces from the way the eye sets and are shaped to the character’s lips and ears. You can have any skin tone from very human looking shades to blue, green, pink, and purple hues or even albino white. Similarly you can have any eye and hair color with a multitude of shades for each color. The character’s hair can be straight, wavy, or slightly streaked for each hair style. Eyebrows can be dyed a matching color as the hair or something entirely different. Both the male and female characters can have a variety of eye shadowing that may also be color adjusted.
The character creation doesn’t stop at the face; you can go beyond by changing the character’s build from head to toe. For the females you can even mandate their breast size; however this feature is not available for the men.
For players looking for something less complicated there are “Handy” preset characters made, which all of the above edits can be made to or left simply as they are.
Each class of character has their own unique customization abilities. Try each one and find the perfect character(s) for you in your Perfect World.
Possibilities
Flying
Possibilities? …They are endless. In this game you have few boundaries; especially once you advance higher in level. For starters most all objects you see can be stood upon. Buildings, city monuments, structures, rocks, plateaus, and branches that are spacious enough for your character. How does one propose to get on such said objects? Your character can double jump, and each jump covers a great distance. But why stop at jumping? Why not fly until you can touch the clouds? The Elfwing class allows you to fly at level 1 with beautiful and detailed wings. You can soar across the lands from great heights or over bodies of water, or away from a battle you are rapidly losing. For the other classes, you can obtain wings, flying objects, or mounts, that grant you the same ability in your own style once you reach a certain level and can cough up the gold.
Crafting
In this Perfect World there a lot of abilities. One particular ability is learning how to craft a slew of things. You can learn to become a Blacksmith (weaponry), a Tailor (armor), a Pharmacist (medicine/potions), or a Jeweler (enchanted jewelry). Don’t limit yourself to just one Production Skill. You can learn all four without much trouble. Mastering them is another story though. To craft though you need certain materials you can find throughout the world, “mining” them or digging up the herbs and plants. Other materials needed are dropped by mobs (the enemies) and can be collected by killing these certain monsters. Bring these to the NPC’s in each town that specialize in the specific craft (such as the Tailor) and “produce” the items your Crafting Level and material limit allows.
The beauty about crafting is that you’ll usually get different stats and enhancements for the item you create each time you create and re-create it. There is a likeliness that you will get better stats and defense upgrades by crafting the armor than buying it. The better your crafting turns out the more you can sell the item for. Each item you craft will have your character’s name engraved in it to show off your craftsmanship.
Fashion, Housing, & Guilds
While a Perfect World is a fantasy adventure with monster fighting and leveling up madly, it offers more for players willing to put in a good deal of time and on occasion, a little bit of real money. PW offers a Fashion system. While the armor and typical clothing is stylish, you can also get more normal and casual attires. Your wardrobe can range from a pair of swimming trunks to a fancy dress. However, to acquire this sort of clothing you’d have to buy it from Perfect World’s Item Mall or pay heaps of in-game gold to buy the articles of clothing off other players selling them.
Much later into the game there are housing and territory options that let you design your own home and its surroundings to show off to friends and enjoy. In this Perfect World the hero will need a place to settle down and bask the good life.
A much more easy to obtain feature is a Guild. While costly (in-game gold) it can prove worth it. The ability to create a guild comes around level 20 and it costs quite a bit of gold. But you get to create a group that you build up and fight against other Guilds or complete quests together with. Just another fun feature that allows you connect with the other players of PW. Take on the task of managing your own Guild and watch it grow in members, strength, renown, and level.
Cuddling & Marriage
What is a Perfect World without that perfect someone? Much to my own surprise, you can get married in this game. You can hunt down that virtual “love of your life” and bond with them while playing through each quest and advancing further. The ability to “Hoist Cuddle” and make the action intimate adds a new feel to an mmorpg. But the best part is being able to hold a wedding, invite guests, dress up, and marry that special gamer. Whether taken seriously or not by the spouses is up to them.
Graphics
Superb. I’m a picky person, tried a couple mmorpgs and quit after a few minutes because I didn’t like the feel of the environment. But Perfect World is a beautifully designed game with a massive map, complete with forests, lakes, rivers, mountains, cities, villages, open land, and blue skies. The details are great, and the architecture in the cities and buildings are absolutely brilliant. Buildings are proportionate to the characters and the surroundings. A neat little element to the game is that day will turn into the night and you can watch the sun rise and set. Depending on where you are, you may find a rainbow somewhere. Looking at each character around you and your own character you can see the details in their armor, fashionable clothing, faces, and weapons.
Quests
While I’ve hardly begun to experience all the Quests I find them to be to my liking. A multitude of them require some grind, killing so many of a certain monster. I’ve had up to killing 30 of one mob so far. But there are so many other Quests types and storylines to go with each one it keeps it lively. One of the first Winged Elf quests required flying to a chest and beating the clock while at it. Others are leisure Quests, simply go and greet certain people, deliver a message, gather herbs or iron, or learn a new Production Skill. The Quests vary and sometimes go on for multiple parts. Some are difficult and very rewarding, others can be completed with little thought. The combat proves to be rather fun, especially when in a party, and completing grind quests becomes a bit easier with extra help.
Other
Perfect World has a lot of unique elements to it. But it also has simple yet great features that are seen in most mmorpgs. A wide variety of weapons, armor, jewelry, and pets. Steeds and mounts can be obtained or purchased. There are unique skills and magic abilities for each class. Tons upon tons of Quests. The map is absolutely massive. This game has just about everything you could want in it. But what more I can say? Try it for yourself.

Perfect World is fun at the beginning but on the long run, a lot of people will get bored of it. The reason of that is the endless grind to level and lack of variety of quests. I had leveled a werefox to 54 and that time, all my quests were to kill about 50-60 XXX ; when I had missions because you get less and less of them. The rest of the time, you have to kill random stuff around your level to get xp 0.1% by 0.1% and try to avoid dieing because you instantly lose 3% xp, which can be a harsh punishment given how long it takes to get, and how easily death can happen. It’s about at that time that I definitely gave up the game and uninstalled it after having given my crafting ressources to friends.
I’m not totally bashing it, however : the character customization is absolutely wonderful indeed and it’s a real pleasure to work on face like an artist working on a new creation.
Beautiful, yes; fun for some time, yes; perfect, no.
