Antifire Potions and Their Effect on PKing

How antifire potions affected pking with range.

I know that the antifire potion is a rather new discovery when it comes to pking. For those of you who do not know, the antifire’s effect negates the ability of dragonstone bolts (e) special to activate. These bolts are a favourite of rangers, and can hit upwards of 60 damage in the right conditions. However, when the antifire potion is used, the max hit goes down to around 45 with 99 range.

Now, as a pker who uses range almost exclusively, I find that as more and more people have found out about these little devils, pking with range is a lot funner than it used to be. Now I am sure that many of you rangers who are reading this are going “is he insane” or “what the hell is he talking about, it’s so much harder to ko now,” but just hear me out.

Now that most, if not all pkers use antifire potions when fighting rangers, there is more skill needed than ever to ko with range. You need to be able to time your vengeance casting right, to invest in Morrigans Javelins or Throwing Axes and to risk a little. Gone are the days when us rangers can get away with demolishing people with a lucky 65 hit with d bolts. Although you kill:death ratio might go down, i guarantee that your “fun level” (pardon the pun) will go up. In my opinion, it is a lot more fun to kill someone when they have an equal chance of killing you, as you prove to yourself THAT YOU ARE BETTER than that person. I ask you, where is the fun in getting a random 65 ko every few fights, when you dont even DECIDE when its going to happen. Pking should be about besting your oppenent with skill AND levels, not just peppering people with random specials which do extraordinairy amounts of damage and calling them safers all the while.

If this means buying a few morrigans sets and trying out pking with that, so be it. The game of Runescape is meant to be played for fun. NOT for getting angry over every single update that happens.

In conclusion, a new age of runescape has come, and us rangers will just have to deal with it, instead of whinning about it.

Yep, however each dose only negates it for a couple of minutes after which you need a new dose
