Note : Some items listed here might be quite hard to acquire. If you’re looking for more common and obtainable items, you should visit the list of ‘best common items to alch’ here.

New Update : From now on, the list will be shown in picture instead for simplicity purpose. Feel free to comment if you find flaws in it; I’ll then try my best to fix it.

High Alchemy is the easiest way to train magic because by putting your noted items at the same point as the high alchemy spell in the inventory, all you need is to double click on your noted items to have your magic experience increased. Many players do this while doing other things like watching movie, listening to music or even when hanging out with people both in RuneScape and real world. The picture below will show you how to get the best and most comfortable way of ‘alching’ (Windows only).

The experience you can get from here is 65 which is high considering that you only need to click. You can get up to 78,000 xp within an hour if you do this method without stopping at all. The most popular place for ‘alching’ is at Grand Exchange where a lot of ‘alcher’ hang out together while training their magic.

However, many people find it expensive to do this magic training since you will lose money if you buy the items in Grand Exchange and high alched them. Many people lose about 200 coins, 300 coins or even 500 coins per items ‘alched’ because they simply don’t know what are the items that will cause a little loss instead of pretty big loss.

You will need about 13,034,431 XP to get to level 99 magic. Assuming that you start from level 55 (166,636 XP) , you will need to alch 197,966 Items. If you’re alching without stopping, you’ll alch about 1300 Items per hour and earn 84,500 xp (65 xp per items). With this calculation, it will takes about 152 hours to reach level 99 with this method.

If you’re playing about 4 hours per day, it will take about 38 days to reach your objective. On the other hand, if you’re a hardcore player and play for 12 hours in a day, you will reach your objective within 12 days.

Final Words & Tips

Remember that if you find these items to be too unobtainable, you could always use the more common items listed in this article.

Those are the guide and the items that will only cause you a little loss of money or possibly earn you money if you made them by yourself. Note that the price is taken on the day this article was updated, the real price will be slightly or possibly much different so you’ll need to adapt with it. Please don’t hesitate to comment on this article if you find the price of the items on this list become very misleading. I’ll then update it as soon as I can.

It’s recommended that you buy more than one type of item on the list since most of them will take sometimes to have its order completed. Also, keep a keen eye on the price in Grand Exchange; when the price of an item is down so hard, stock up on them by buying as many as you can.

That’s all of the guide! Happy Alching!♥

Pretty cool, I go to this website and always see crappy guides, this one is fairly decent. Nice job.

  4. Posted October 18, 2009 at 11:30 am

Lol, yeah.. the majority of them are crappy because they’re prioritizing views instead of quality. But you’ll find some of Runescape writers here write decent and detailed guide, most of them listed in popular articles even though that list will lists some of crappy guides as well.

Thank you for your compliment! :D

P2P has way better stuff obviously, but if you mine your own Rune essence, then make your own Nature Runes you can make some serious profit! Another Very good article with lots of facts and statistics.

all i have to say, good guide, till u realise u only get 100 per 4 hours, find way round it?

  20. Posted December 7, 2010 at 4:47 am

If it’s too slow for you, try a less profitable items. For a fast and possibly instantaneous order, try common items written in this article : Best Common Items To Alch In RuneScape

But note that the loss difference is quite significant compared to those in this list.

  21. Posted January 22, 2011 at 12:50 am

prices have changed now that its 2011.

  22. Posted January 28, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Indeed it has slightly changed. I apologize for the delay of updating. From now on, I’ll try my best to update this weekly. The list is also now built into a picture to make it simpler to read.

This guide is awesome, do you know how to change the accessibility options for the mouse keys on my mac?

  24. Posted January 29, 2011 at 6:30 am

According to Apple official support, you can turn it on in ‘Universal Access Preferences’. Switch to ‘Mouse Pane (or tab)’ and set the option key. The ‘Universal Access Preferences’ itself is accessed via ‘System Preferences’.

More official detailed info is here :

I’m afraid I couldn’t be more detailed than this since I don’t own a Mac.

    Thank you for your question!

    Thanks Avaxier,
it worked just like a windows computer would work
    i really appreciate your help

  26. Posted January 29, 2011 at 10:49 am

You’re welcome, Brad. Glad I could help.

  27. Posted February 1, 2011 at 1:35 am

Yes, it is. 1300 items is what you can achieve at best within an hour with the proper methods. It will take around 40 days on average if you focused on it every time you play (if you started out at level 55). It’s certainly very long and could be considered a waste of life by a lot of people.

    Thanks for your comment!

  30. Posted March 11, 2011 at 6:11 am

@Ayron : You mean the Mousekey? The picture in the end of the guide will work for both Windows 7 and Vista. For XP, you might need to improvise a little bit.

    Thank you for your feedbacks!
