Five Tips on How Not to be a Runescape Noob

Having trouble fitting in and not being a noob in Runescape?

Ok, so you’re walking the streets of Varrock, and suddenly, someone who honestly looks more nooby than you thought possible, shouts… “Hey n00b! Gimme your pass or i will 0wn u!!!” (From now on, this character will be referred to as the noobinator.) You probably think to yourself,”What? Do I know this guy?

Doesn’t he know that just because hes a higher combat level than me, he’s not superior?” This guide will show you how to prevent unfriendly encounters with fellow Runescapians like the one above.

It’s All In the Look

Now that you know that there is a way to not be a noob, it brings us to our first tip.

Take a look at this fellow to the left. What do you think of him? His weak, shabby mismatched armor and poor weaponry makes you think of him as one thing: a noob. This is a great target for insecure noobinators. Here’s some ideas on what to do if you look like him:

  • Stay away from mismatched armor, such as a bronze med helm, an iron chainmail, and steel legs. Mismatched armor makes the Runescapian appear weak and poor.
  • Always wear powerful, “thick” weapons like scimmys and 2h’s even if they are bronze or iron. Once again, daggers and long swords, or “thin” weapons make the Runescapian seem wimpy.
  • Try to fill up every spot of clothing, including gloves, boots, capes and amulets, to make the Runescapian appear wealthy.

Now that we have all these tips, lets put them all together.

You see, this Runescapian looks much more professional with gloves, a cape, an amulet, boots, a matching armor set, and a nice strong weapon: an iron scimitar. Obviously, you can replace the more expensive items(glory ammy, white boots, white cape) with cheaper alternatives like a bronze necklace, leather boots, and a normal cape to make the outfit worth only about 1k but still professional.

Never, Ever, Under Any Circumstances, Act Needy

This tip is simple: do not act needy. Acting needy includes begging, haggling for prices, asking for accounts, following around respectable high level players in awe, or accepting friends’ gifts with no grace. Any of the above simply is against the rules of high society in RuneScape. It doesn’t matter how needy you really are, but it does matter if people know that you’re needy or not. “Nuff said.

Literacy is Key

Literacy is definitely not a favorite subject in RuneScape, but important nonetheless. If you have ever talked to a high level player in the game, you will notice that they speak very literately aside from a few acronyms like brb and lol. Measure the respectfulness between player 1 and player 2.

Player 1:”Letz go 2 varok for sum fun and i wanna buy sum armer there 2!”
Player 2: “Let”s go to Varrock for some fun. And I want to buy some armor there, too.”

On first impression, with no other way to measure their noobiness other than the way they talk, Player 1 is probably 9/10 noobiness while Player 2 is only 1/10 noobiness. In RuneScape, the way you talk to other players is the way you show respect. Talk like Player 1, and you’ll be called a noob. Talk like Player 2, and they’ll respond, “Sure, I’ll go to Varrock with you! I need to buy some armor too.”

Give Respect, Get Respect

This next lesson is easy. If you call someone else a noob, then they have every right to call you a noob. If you take a ranger’s arrows, they have every right to call you a noob. If you follow someone around incessantly, they have every right to call you a noob. If you repeatedly request a trade with someone and then all the sudden when they finally trade back, decline the trade, they have every right to call you a noob.

If you walk up to a girl in RuneScape and say, “You’re hot,” the girl has every right to call you a noob (Take it from me, guys, I’m a girl and we don’t take that as a compliment.). If you ask for a ridiculously low price when you’re buying something or a high price when selling something, guess what? They have every right to call you a noob!

If These Don’t Work

If these things don’t work, I’m sorry because the person calling you a noob is probably stupid and insecure (don’t take it too harshly), but there’s only one thing left you can do: level up. Once you’re level 40 or higher in a nonmember’s world or level 60 or higher in a member’s world, there really should be no reason anyone should be calling you a noob except if you are violating above. these guidelines It might take a while, but it’s worth it, and besides, that’s what RuneScape is about: getting stronger and better.

I hope these guidelines have worked, and if they haven’t, PM me on my PKing side, Soeju for more tips. Peace!

see there’s only one thing that i dont understand, why do people hate longs so much? they are better then scimi’s in every stat? it confuses me to hell. Link below shows rune stats.

honestly, I don’t hate longs they just look very “noobish” unless they are rune and above. scimmys are faster, though even though longs have better stats

I feel your pain. Once I was walking to the wizard’s tower, and someone walked up to me and said I was hot. Now, 1) I, and my account, are both boys. Sure, my character has long hair, though. 2), I have a girlfriend in real life.
Also, the incomprehensible language n00bs speak? it’s called 1337, better known as leet
