Further Down The Road
Sometimes it is just time to move on…always try to see it as a new beginning, not an ending.
I found this beautiful picture at this link:

He laid aside his sword for our battle was done,
And it didn’t matter who had lost or who had won.
In turn, my shield dropped; I wouldn’t need it any more.
The wars would be all over once I walked out the door.
So with a backward smile for the days of gold
I drifted toward tomorrow further down the road.

If I had looked for him I couldn’t see him there.
My eyes were dazzled by the road’s bright glare.
Did he look around for me before I had gone too far?
He might have seen me reaching for yet another star.
Now with a lighter heart and a spirit of gold
I’m looking for tomorrow further down the road.

Well written from start to finish. Like it!
A beautiful and well written piece. Good work.
