Game Review: RuneScape

You probably have heard of RuneScape. However, it is quite possible that this was in negative sense, many people believe that it is but a "ugly" and "stupid" game. Nothing is less true, read this review!

RuneScape is a MMORPG, or a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Like World of Warcraft, you walk through a large world, defeat monsters to achieve a higher level and meet a lot of other players. A concept so familiar, but Jagex knows very well his own twist to give, as you can read in this review.

The big difference is that RuneScape is free, you can play free on the site of Jagex, because it is a Java program. However, if you want to be a member, it’s not free. But I will  treat this game as a free game.

If you start with Runescape, can you first create your character and choose from different clothes, hair and stuff . Then get on Tutorial Island, where you learn the basics of RuneScape. Finally, you’ll be thrown into the deep, in the big world. Here you can do quests, talk with others, exercising, going on adventures, whatever you want. Here we come to the uniqueness of RuneScape. You simply can level up in different things and also have all different levels. You may want very good at magic, but you may also be a skilled woodsman.

Every skill is usefull. Chopping wood for example, if you cut wood, you get branches and these branches again you can light a fire, you can cook. You can also use the wood to make a bow and some arrows or you can just sell the wood. There are in total (with those of the members) 21 of these skills, as woodcutting, fire making, but also magic and melee, which in turn is divided into attack, defense, strength and health .These latter four skills make up your combat level, the level of how everyone can see you. It is not meant to be only this train. If you rest well trained, you can arrange your own weapons and food and you can also earn enough money.
