Guide to 99 Fishing on RuneScape

First off, start with shrimp from 1 to 5. For this you will need a small net. These first few levels will be very slow.

After you get 5 fishing, use a regular fishing rod and bait, start fishing sardine up to 10. This will be faster exp then shrimp, so getting to 10 will be somewhat fast.

From 5-20 keep using your regular fishing rod and bait, you will start to catch herring and sardine. This exp won’t take very long.

From 20-40 you can start to use a fly fishing rod, and feathers. From 20-30 you will only catch trout, but the levels will come fast. From 30-40 you will start to catch both trout and salmon. This is the fastest fishing experience in the game and should take long at all.

Now you have a choice. You can either make a good profit and fish lobster, or you can get extremely fast levels while fishing trout and salmon.

If you chose to fish trout and salmon, then stick with them all the way to 99. If your going for profit, then fish lobsters until about 60, then start harpoon fishing for tuna and swordfish. These are decent money and experience. After you get about 70, or so fishing, do the quest Swan Song, and start to fish monkfish. These are good money and very good experience.

After about 90 fishing from monkfish, it’s time to go for pure profit. Go to the fishing guild, and start harpooning shark. These are very slow, but extremely good money. On average shark cost around 1000gp each. Do this to 99 fishing.
