What is the Task System?

A few months ago, Jagex released a new update to runescape. This update was known as the release of the Task System. In case you have never heard of the task system I will explain it. The Task system was designed to replace the Achievement Diaries and was also meant to become a more convenient way of completing them while receiving some new rewards for their completion.

What are the Rewards?

The rewards from this new task system are a little different, the main ones like the Explorer ring and Varrock Armour remaining as the central rewards. The new and extra rewards being that you can earn a few extra gold pieces with the completion of a task, meaning that when you have completed several tasks or perhaps an entire set of tasks you will receive quite a bit of money, perhaps even 100k or more.

Is the task system Members only?

This new task system, is not entirely just for members, although there are many more task areas in the member side of the game, the only one in the free to play game being the Lumbridge/Dranynor Village. A few more of the areas where the task system is set in place, are Varrock, Falador, Karamja and Ardounge which all have several tasks and rewards each.

What are the tasks and are they Difficult?

The tasks vary in difficulty some being as simple as talking to someone to the more harder tasks like doing things that might involve higher levels like chopping a different kind of tree or smelting some bars and smithing them into, armour and weapons which you can later sell for even more profit.

To give you more of an example, I have listed a few of the tasks below which are exactly from the Lumbridge/Draynor task set.

You can Bank on us- You can complete this task by simply speaking to the banker on top of the Lumbridge Castle, you don’t have to have a long conversation, just a hello and what is this place phrase should do.

Adventurer’s Log- to Complete this task, all you need to do is go to either Lumbridge or draynor village with a woodcutting hatchet and simply cut down a regular tree.

Aren’t they supposed to be Twins?- To complete this task, all you must do is catch a crayfish, the best place being just behind the Lumbridge church which is next door to the graveyard.

Conclusion- Can you make Money from Completing Tasks?

Yes, you can make money from completing tasks seeing as though each task can equal 10- 2k per task. Although this might not seem like much if you can complete all of the available task sets which each have at least 50 tasks each then you are looking at several hundred thousand gold pieces which you would otherwise not have. So although, some of the tasks are quite difficult and completing all of them can be tiring and seem boring but it is well worth it when you take into account the rewards and benefits.
