How to Train Range

Range (in my opinion) is THE BEST part of the combat triangle in RuneScape! With a dark bow, you can literally 2 shoot people in PvP and you can safespot monsters to give maximum damage and take none.

Free To Play Training

For free to play training, make sure you have the best armour you can use to train with – better armour = higher damage = more xp/hour. And for a weapon use the best shortbow you can because it’s fast, which is what you want for training.
It doesn’t really matter what arrows you use, but the better the arrow the higher the hit – so just get what you can afford.

Level 1-20/30

For these levels, train on Cows (level 3) which drop raw beef, bones and Cowhide. The best thing to do is pick up the hides and bank them to sell. The hides will soon cover the cost for the arrows.

The best place to train on cows AND bank the cowhides is the cow field just north-west of lumbridge castle. Follow the route north, and is directly north when the path starts turning west. (note that theres a windmill by it – if you see it, you are south-west of the entrance)

Level 20-40/50

For these levels, train on Minotaurs (level 12) in the stronghold of security, which drop coins, noted rune essence, tin ore, some gems and most importantly, iron arrows. These guys are great for training because they are killed quickly and drops arrows AND noted items to sell and buy armour. Best of all, you don’t need defense or food because there is a safe spot along the northern end of the room.

To get to the Minotaurs, go to the barbarian village, enter the stronghold, go to the first door in the south of the room, then take the door in the east of this room. (note that there are also wolves in this room.)

Level 40-60

Flesh crawlers (level 35) are great to train from 40-60, they don’t drop much on an f2p server, but if you get membership they drops herbs worth 10k, and alotta runes. Though drops won’t matter much, these guys give godly experience anyways. To kill these guys, i suggest taking the safespot at the south-west part of the room right next to the door – just go to the door and fire away.

To get to these guys, get to the second level of the stronghold and then just go as far south as you canfollowing the path.

Level 60+

For levels 60 and above, i suggest killing Lesser Demons (level 82) as they have alot of health, are safe-able, and drop good items. These guys will grant alot of experience and are the best option for rangers at this level.
