Jagex Getting Rid of ALL Rares in RuneScape on June 7th
Yes, the long feared ban of discontinued items awaits. Read this article to know what’s coming, how to prepare, and how to deal with RuneScape without Rares.
Jagex Ltd. has just quietly announced that they will be deleting all tradeable discontinued items on June 7th, 2009. This came as a shock to many players in the Runescape community because of the promise made before the Grand Exchange. Jagex programmer Max McMillen comments, “Jagex is terribly sorry about any lost wealth as a result of this upcoming update, but these items are disruptive in the game and overload our servers.” The company also reported that they are taking the items out of the game in time for the summer rush. “We just don’t have enough server space this summer to accommodate these problem rares,” says a Jagex rep.

While there have been reported riots in gaming towns, no major events have yet occurred as a result of this decision. “We are expecting some major backlash in the virtual community, but nothing we can’t fix with a few suspensions,” noted Andrew Gower.

This update, due for June 7th, should not affect 99% of Runescapers. Those who have spent their money wisely and invested in actual non-discontinued goods should be just fine.
A final note left by Bob Infrahn, the COO of Jagex, was that “the economy hits everybody hard, even us here at Jagex.” He also said to expect a “new and complex skill within the next couple of months, which will be open to both members and nonmembers alike.” Could this possibly be the long-awaited Merchanting Skill?

All I can say is… I was planning to buy a santa, but when i read this… :O
Obviously fake… Jagex would have announced something of this proportion, because nearly all high leveled players own one or two rares. Also, this article looks as if it is written by some loser high school kid who failed english and patheticly attempt to scam rares…
