Jaunty’s Introduction to RuneScape:

A little about Runescape, and what its all about.

So you’ve searched the internet for hours trying to find something to do.  You’ve played online checkers.  You’ve gone to addictinggames.com.  You’ve searched Google for free games to play on the internet.  Chances are you’ve come across dozens if not hundreds of options.  Some of these might include things like Dragon Fable, or one of their affiliates.   If you tried those you probably found at that 1) they aren’t very fun for long amounts of time and 2) they aren’t REALLY free.  Like most games on the internet you get the trial period and then are declined access unless you create another account only to get to the same spot you did on your last character, or you end up having to pay outrageous fees for mediocrity.

If you’ve come across these games there is almost no doubt that you’ve come across Runescape.  Runescape is a massively multiplayer online role playing game (mmorpg) set in the world of Gielinor.   Runescape has many mixed reviews like some of the other games.  No, the graphics aren’t great, not really even good.  No, not everything comes free.   Yes, there are thousands of people who play that are very immature and seem to be under the age of 10 at most times.  But there are also some decent things to say about it.  Though the graphics aren’t perfect they are decent for a web based in-browser game that can be played on basically any computer with no problems.  Yes there is a member’s only portion of the game, but a person could play every day for the rest of their lives in the free version of the game and still have plenty to do.  The membership starts as little as $5.95 a month and you gain access to 8 new skills and 3 times the available world space.  Without membership just getting the free skills to the maximum level of 99 would take months (and that’s playing several hours a day, several days a week).

So if you’ve come across this article, or seen things about Runescape on the internet and need something to do I would suggest at least trying it.   The game is not hard at all.  Learning most of what you need to know won’t take more than 30 to 60 minutes at most and anything else you want to know is only a Google search away.

More to come soon so check back later for guides and tips from a long time player and millionaire.
