RuneScape

RuneScape is one that has to be mentioned since it is such a massive hti with all online MMORPG players. It is a graphical browser game, operated by Jagex Ltd. The game had approximately 104 million account and has been mentioned in the Guiness Book Of World Records as the worlds most popular free MMORPG. RuneScape takes place in a huge fantasy realm, divided into kingdoms. PLayers can use magic to accomplish tasks in the game and each region offers different breeds of monsters, quests and resources. Players represent themselves with customisable avatars. The game does not have a set storyline so the players can choose what tasks and abjectives the they want to complete. Players can communicate through trading, chatting and other activities. www.runescape.com

Dofus

Dofus is definately not as well known as RuneScape, I’d say this game is mroe for people who want a good amount of people to interact with but don’t want to be too crowded in the game play. It is developed and published by Ankama Games. It is primeraly a pay to play game, though it still offers a huge amount of game play for free players. Its success led to two continuations of the game, Dofus Arena, whihc is an alternativ ‘tournament’ version of Dofus and Wakfu whihc is currently in the process of Beta testing. The game has attracted over 10 million players worlwide, which is a fraction of the players RuneScape has but its still a huge amount. Like RuneScape, players are represented by a customisable character, the game takes place in ‘The World of Twelve’, named because there a twelve character classes that inhabit it, all of which players can choose from for the character class. www.dofus.com < download

Club Penguin

This is definately one for the little people, Club penguin is a virtual world in which your avatar, a penguin, waddles around and plays games with other players from around the world. Club penguin now has around 12 million players world wide. While membership is free, players can of course Pay to Play, by doing so they gain access to many more additional features including furniture, clothes and pets. The game is developed for children aged between 6 and 14 so child safety is very high on this site. www.clubpenguin.com
