Range and Range/2H Pures

Hopefully, I’ll be able to help you RuneScape lovers some more.

Range pures in my opinion are some of the best pures out there.  They hit faster than melee or magicians, and they just have an air of coolness about them. If you’re thinking of making a range pure, then that’s a good choice. If you want to make a range/2h character, then go for it! I’ll include stuff for range/2h later on in this topic.

Ok, back to business. How to make and train a pure ranger; which you can then go on a killing spree with. First of all, you need to make an account with a cool name.  You need it to tell others that you a ranger, and that you mean business, so you don’t want to make a noob name, but something that looks scary or cool, or whatever.

The next important thing you need to do is to get some sort of income. Whether that is mining, fishing, wood cutting, fletching (members), you need money! So go out and get some money, and then come back here and continue reading. (about 500k should do it)

After you’ve got that amount of money, you need to go and buy all you equipment, and then you can start training. Woohoo!  This is what you will need: 20k iron arrows, 5k steel, all the range armour that you can get without it requiring defence (up to green o’hide), and all the short bows up to maple.  I can’t calculate all that, because it’s late, and I’m really tired, but hopefully, your 500k will go a long way towards that. If you have any left over, you could buy some mithril or adamant arrows, but I wouldn’t bother.

Level 1-10 Range

Chickens- sorry guys, it has got to be the chickens again, but don’t worry, you won’t be here for long. Use iron arrows here.

Level 10-25 Range

I love cows, don’t you? So go and kill them till you’ve got 25 range. You can either stand behind the fence or behind the troughs inside the cow pen. Again, use iron arrows.

Level 25-45 Range

Ok, now it starts becoming more difficult, but you should be doing some nice damage to those cows. So leave them, and go to the barbarian village, and go into the hall. (For those of you who don’t know the location of the hall, its north of the entrance to the Stronghold of Security). Train with iron arrows. By level 45, you should be doing at least 6 damage. Now, don’t be discouraged that all your mates are hitting 8s and 9s with their scimitars and swords; just remember that you hit faster than them.

Level 45-60 Range

Boring! Just don’t give up. You can now go into the Stronghold of Security and train on minotaurs. As soon as you enter, go through the first set of doors. Keep going through about 3 or 4 sets of this doors, in the same direction. After you’ve done that, you won’t be able to continue, so turn left and go through about 1 or 2 sets of doors (long time since I was there). You will then see level 27 minotaurs, along with some wolves. Continue going, and you will see a fence like structure. Stand behind this, and pick off the minotaurs one by one. I would still suggest iron arrows, but steel is fine as well.  Another good place to train, which I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere, is in the wilderness. Now, I know what you’re thinking, ‘Oh, no, not the wilderness’, but don’t worry, you won’t die, I promise. Go to the clan wars tent, and to the east of it, there is the Graveyard of Shadows’. Stand outside the fence, and kill anything that moves. =) By that I mean zombies level 18. In fact, you could come here earlier if you want.

Level 60-70

So you thought that was hard, yeah? Well that was easy compared to this. From this point, I would suggest training on anything that gives you good experience, and at the same time, doesn’t damage you. For example, the lesser demon in the Watch Tower. Although you can’t pick up your arrows, it is quite good experience, and if you’ve got a mate who can use telekinetic grab, he/she can pick up your arrows for you, and the occasional rune medium helm (worth about 11k). Alternately, you can keep training on the minotaurs, zomies you could do clan wars. Do whatever suits your boots, enjoy yourself and have fun.

Continue reading if you would like to become a range/2h character

Right, this is difficult, because you need to get your hands dirty when fighting. But don’t worry! I’m here. Lol. Ok anyways, read on. What you will need: strength amulet, all scimitars up to rune, attitude and patience.

Level  1-10 strength and attack

Chickens, chickens and more chickens.

Level 10-20 strength and attack

Sea gulls in Port Sarim.

Level 20-40 strength and attack

Monks, as they can heal you.

Level 40-68 strength

Alkarid Soldiers

Now, that was just a quick run through of what to do.  In my opinion, as I said before, do whatever you want. The reason I suggested these places is because you don’t need much food for them, and they are quite quiet. If you want a more detailed description of what to do for strength training, then go to this address:

Hope this helped. Please correct me if I’m mistaken on some things. Thanks.
