Ranged Guide

A basic ranged guide, can also be used as a ranged pking guide.

Being a ranger is basically difficult as there are very few arrow shops in runescape. I’d suggest getting 3 ranging and 3 defense in tutorial island as you can get unlimited arrows in tutorial there. When you are teleported to Lumbirage you will have 25 arrows (even if you had 0 arrows left while leaving tutorial Island) you can also get 3 mining and 3 smiting so that you can earn money by selling weapons/armor/metal bars. In Lumbirage there is no anvil so you can’t get armor or weapons (you can only smelt the ores). Once you get 250-300 bronze bars go to the grand exchange in Varrock and sell the bars at the market price (don’t smith the bars). With the money buy 2.5k iron arrows, some armor and an oak short bow. Use home teleport and go to Lumbirage. Now go to the chicken coop. Kill the chicken using the ‘long range’ mode. Pick feathers and arrows (even bones if you want to increase prayer but bury the bones immediately) train to range level 15 here. Now go to the bank on top of the palace and deposit feathers. Now go to the place where beefy bill is. Kill cows and calves and pick all the drops and sell the ones you don’t want to beefy bill. I trained to level 35 ranged and 35 defense in 4 hours (a long time but safe) You can buy some more arrows from Varrock if you are low on arrows. You can sell the feathers for money at the grand exchange. Switch worlds if it’s not sold. Now go to the Fist of Guthix (minigame) (located in the wilderness level 6) Tip-Go to a fist of guthix world as there are more players there. You have an advantage here as 95% of the people here are mages. Also remember that you are here to train, not to win the game. You can spend hours here without getting bored and you will GENRALLY get 150exp in ranged and defense + opponent’s health x 2 exp in both (as some players forfeit/have less than 16 health). Once your ranged is 50 or more, you can buy better armor, bows and arrows. If you can’t afford something, mine then smith and then sell the best ore/bar you can. Now you can train on moss/hill giants in wilderness/near varrock (requires bronze key). Now you can train on ice monsters in the cave near Port Sarim. Once you are 90 ranged, you can start doing quests or pking. NOTE-this is a guide for f2p.
