RuneScape 1-99 Range Guide: Pures and Non-Pures F2p

By request, I have decided to make a 1-99 Range Guide. You enjoy range and want 99? Or just a Pure and need help? Well this is the perfect guide for you.

After several requests, I am finally making a second guide after my 99 Hunter guide. This Guide will be obviously on Range. Now just to start us off, if you don’t know what Runescape is, it is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG)  created by Jagex. There are two types of ways  to play the game, Free to Play (do not need to pay) and Pay to Play (where you pay to play, also known as Members). In this guide, I will tell you the most efficient ways to get the wonderful skill of Range to 99.

Before you Read the Guide

To use this guide, you will probably have to have a very good defence level in some circumstances. Also, with all items I use, I suggest buying off the Grand Exchange. And NEVER buy items for max price. You will lose unnecessary money. All range style is RAPID. Lose more arrows, but a lot faster experience.

I suggest P2Ps start Range as a F2P until they reach 40.

Levels 1-10 (Non-Pures and Pures)  Chickens

In North-East Lumbridge, there’s a little place where chickens “Hang out”. This is the best place to get Range levels 1-10 for both F2P and P2P. Stand in the centre and use a Bow with Bronze arrows. With a defence level of over 50, the Chickens should not affect you at all. Pick up all feathers. This will help pay back for your arrows. At level 5 Range, buy a Oak Shortbow. Pick up arrows if you want. Want to save money, pick up arrows. Want 99 Ranged as fast as possible, leave the arrows on the ground. PURES MIGHT NEED FOOD!

Levels 10-20 (Non-Pures and Pures)  Cows

Just opposite the road from where you trained at the chickens, there is a cow field. Now you can kill the cows from over the fence, or you can go into the field (if you have about 50 defence) and take them front on. If you want to make a bit of a profit, pick up the cowhides and run to the bank to obviously bank. But I’d suggest leaving them for is you want 99 Range as fast as possible. Same goes with the arrows, pick them if you want, but I’d personally leave them.

Levels 20-35 (Non-Pures)  Barbarians

Now we make our way to Barbarian Village. Now that you have 20 range, don’t forget to upgrade your armour and bow. Equip Studded armour, use bronze or iron arrows and use a Willow Shortbow. Enter the Longhall (located North) and you shall see two long tables. Stand on one side of the table and attack a barbarian passing by. This way you don’t get attacked. UPDATE – There are now barbarians who can range you from over the table. High defence makes this place great to train in, low defence, stick to Monks. Do not pick up your arrows, it wastes too much time.

Monks (Non-Pures and Pures)

You could also head to the Monastery and kill monks. Again, same armour and same arrows, just different place. If you have a low defence, shoot your arrows from under the roof. If you have high defence, just go out and meet them face to face. Do not pick up your arrows as it wastes time, but if you want to, then your free to go.

Levels 35-60 (Non-Pures and Pures)  Level 27 Minotaurs

These are located in the Stronghold of Security, level 1. If you go out and take them on and have a defence of 50 or lower, I strongly suggest bringing food. If you have a defence of 50 and up, I would still bring food just in case. Otherwise, Pures can train here as there are multiple safe spots along the walls. Buy Studded leather body, and chaps (well you should have them already), a Maple Shortbow (your new best friend) and multiple, about 10,000 IRON arrows. At this stage, I would pick up my arrows as Minotaurs also drop plenty of arrows. You might come back with 13,000 arrows and only started with 5,000 arrows.

Edgeville Guards (Non-Pures and Pures)

Best place ever to train for Pures and Non-Pures. Run north of Edgeville until you can cross the Wilderness Ditch. Find a place where there are Guards, and Cross the ditch. The Guards can’t jump the ditch which means free ranged experience! No food required, and there shouldn’t be any Revenants at Level 1 Wilderness. Wear the same armour as you would with the level 27 Minotaurs, except don’t bring food. Do not pick up you arrows as it honestly wastes too much time.  Edgville Guards are a popular thing for Pures to train on until 99.

Level 60-99 (Non-Pures) Giant Spiders

This works only if you have a defence level of over 70. Over 85 for maximum results. These are located in Stronghold of Security level 3. Giant Spiders are level 50 and drop nothing. They are also aggressive (until about 20 minutes, from which you have to leave the room to get them aggressive again). I’d suggest Rune Full Helm, Green Dragonhide Body and Rune Platelegs as your basic armour. Again, use maple shortbow and iron arrows. You can AFK if you want, but always check your health. I usually bring Lobsters and eat everytime my health goes below 30. There are no safe spots that I can see, but don’t take my word for that part.

Moss Giants (Non-Pures and Pures)

Varrock sewers is the place for pures. Don’t forget your knife also to cut the webs. Keep the same armour as the Edgeville Guards as a Pure, Non-Pures, update yourself with Green Dragonhide armour (40 defence required, and Dragon Slayer). For Pures, in Varrock sewers, stay out of the “green” on your minimap, and you should be safe, if not, then just move back a bit. Not too far that the spiders start attacking you though. For Non-Pures, go to Crandor (after Dragon Slayer) and attack the Moss Giant (south) there. There are 4 safe spots, which means no food required!

Lesser Demons (Non-Pures)

Same armour as if you were to go to Crandor to kill the Moss Giants, and of course IRON arrows. Instead of going south, stay behind the nearest rock and attack the Lesser Demons. Great experience and no food needed! Probably the best place for Non-Pures to train their Range.

Final Note

99 Range is not something that will come overnight. You need Time and Determination. I wish everyone going for that goal Good Luck! I will make a 99 Range guide for Members. While your here, Why not comment your opinions and what you thought of my Guide. Some of my other Guides include

Do you have a Runescape account gamolosophy? I was wondering because I wanted to ask some question’s about the training for 99 range and other skill’s. I probably won’t be back on this site so just message it on my you tube account’s home page. My account is called xtremenator2. My Runescape account is xtremenator1, also I have 60 range. I’ am a member on Runescape just got it again today. I have Red Dragon hide body/chaps, along with a magic short bow and 3k iron arrow’s. Another question is how long do you think it would take me if I play 5 hour’s a day, 7 day’s a week, for 2 month’s. Would I be able to level up in that time. Thank you lol.

great guide, although i just wanna get to 40 range for the reason of wanting to wear green dragonhide armor. The idea of shooting barbarians over tables is genius! Thanks a ton!
