RuneScape and Youtube
There are a lot of RuneScape communities, forums, chats, clans, each has a good and nice site with great scripts, but YouTube owns the greatest empire of players.
I created this article to let you know the truth about story of Rune Scape and YouTube and their connections.
Rune Scape and its previous version, Devious MUD exists since 1999. Andrew G. started to develop it. The first version of Rune Scape was released in the winter of 2001. The big advantage of RS against other games is Andrew could make it platform-free by using JAVA. The second version was released in 2004. This really looks like Rune Scape nowadays; but in 2008 there was a HD and full-screen update. Since last year players could only play within the browser window. A new update (Rune Trek 5) allows players to use full-screen without using High-Detail mode.
YouTube was released in 2005. Since 2005 it’s the best and most popular video-sharing website online. As YouTube videos, RuneScape ran on quarter of screen; players could record good-quality videos using slow computers too. In 2007 somebody found out to make Rune Scape Movies with different music. A Rune Scape Music Video was shortened to RSMV. In 2008 with the great success of TehNoobShow, some player wanted to make same videos; these were usually full-screen, HD, high-quality videos and there is music and voice too. This YouTube channel has been given a lot of subscribers and the copies too. The really old RS movies of YouTube was the first RuneScape Guides showing players how to do something, complete quests or train skills well. The most famous player, Zezima has over 45,000 subscribers on YouTube.
As Jagex said, RuneScape is the fifth most searched word on YouTube. I don’t know how could they conclude this, but I agree them.
