Runescape Defence Lvls 1-99

Heres some tips on how to get from one to 99 defence in Runescape.

  • 1-8 Ok for a start train on cows or chickens until lv 8 to 10 this won’t take long as they are easy to kill even at a low lv
  • 8-17 then move on you can now kill goblins and by doing so you will get extra xp than as if you was fighting chickens or cows it may get boring towards lv 14 + so you may want to try out some al karid guards but as they come in bunches up to 4 may attack you and then they will probably kill you so I would stick to goblins
  • 17-25 now you can kill al karid guards and get new armour I would suggest mithrill after a while this may be boring to you but I did this until lv 40 but don’t do that because it takes to long and you will get bored really fast
  • 25-35 train on al karids a little longer and only do this if you are wanting faster xp and you won’t get bored easy then if you think you are ready move on to varrok guards but they may kill you so just a few or you can go into the wilderness and kill ghosts’ lv 19
  • 35-40 now is the easy part the xp is only like 5k per lv so you can take it easy you can buy adamant and even rune if you are doing a skill such as woodcutting or mining so that you can buy these things because rune costs 120-140k if you haven’t done dragon slayer so you will need to make money at this point you can move into varrok use the brass key which you can buy at the grand exchange for about 36gp and fight hill giants
  • 40-50 you can keep on fighting hill giants now or the lv 28 hobgoblins it is up to you try and avoid the lv 48 hobgoblins as I could only kill 2 at lv 39 if you are a member then you can buy granite armour
  • 50-55 ok now is not a good time to give up so go out there and train on those lv 48 hobgoblins and get your xp up because next you will be fighting something really hard
  • 55-65 this is one of my favourite parts as you can do all the free quests and then do dragon slayer make sure you can kill a lv 82 dragon and maybe use mage while hiding behind a rock if your mage is over 50 if not keep training defence many people think defence is a skill which makes people hit less but actually it just raises your ability to dodge attacks so they hit 0 more often after dragon slayer you are awarded 18k defence and 18k attack xp so that will help put up your defence and if your attack is quite low it will give it a good boost and make it a high enough level to use mithrill maybe or steel steel is more likely
  • 65-80 now you can train on lessers until you cant anymore because there is no more monsters over lv 100 in the game unless you count the lv 126 ghosts In wildy if you feel like waiting for a respawn for ages you can
  • 80-90 train on lessers this is the point where most people give up because they are not members and don’t want to pay but don’t give up yet keep going
  • 90-99 train on anything you like and put up different skills congratulations on getting 99 defence and getting the blue skill cape which defends from a whole lot of arrows and a giant weight from the sky that is the thing the skill cape does and puts that skill to 100
  • Thank you for listening and I hope you use my guide

ps: experiments have 100hp and give 400xp (not on controlled) im training on experiments and currently going for 70 def =]
im making almost 3000xp evry 5mins thats around 36000xp an hour!!!

I think it was fine apart from 55-65 because the 16k xp only gets you a few levels please expand on it because 55-65 is impossible

i agree 18k xp only gets you from 55 defence to 56. that part of the guide needs improvement. p.s. ur guide is horrible!

guys…defence pures kill monks from 10-99 defence…it’s not stupid, it’s the very best experience besides exp lamps, plus, this guide isn’t that good at all. My 3 year old dog could write a lot better than this.

  13. good guide

guyz…if ur member and have 43 prayer and have done monkey madness then train on monkey guards near the alter…u can basikly afk train. just get a stopwatch and see how long it takes u to get to 10 pray points.then set the timer to countdown and when it runs out recharge. use prot from melee. and bring a rather weak wep like a drag longsword.the monkeys heal themselves.. now THATS AFK training…

  15. u suck

    kill chicken to lvl 10 i get…but…monks??????????????????
    anyway….its a pretty good guide

  17. Posted July 26, 2009 at 5:15 am

nice guide pretty helpful =p. i am a member on runescape and i am currently level 128
    i train on monkey gaurds.
i have 83 prayer and i take aboiut 10 prayer pots and just use protect from melee.
monkey gaurds are very good but if u r a low lvl(below lvl 65) i suggest u either take food or just dont go at all!

  18. bad guide, monks, and monkey banging
    Posted July 29, 2009 at 4:57 am

uhhh…monks? Is this kid on crack? weed? cocaine? You on drugs? I might go to the monks to get converted but not to raise my defence.

P.S. Sorry I gotta agree that this guide is horrible. But as a F2P player, I can happily make fun of P2P players (just cuz of my envy of not being one) by saying….monkey guards? is that where you go to get your AIDS? =O

  19. im Oroxsasu add me on runescape
    Posted August 13, 2009 at 4:28 pm

kewl guide. but the part from 90 – 99 isnt helpful at all… im a member and i know lessers suck. they give good drops sumtimes but they give low exp. if ur a mem from 70 – 99 i would suggest killin dragons. 70 – 90 green, blue, or red drags. 90 – 95 black drags. 95 – 99 kill the KBD, many many times.

  30. Posted February 25, 2010 at 7:04 pm

The reason you should switch to things with higher hp is that you can go afk. I don’t believe you can get a random in combat. Just make sure you don’t die.

  31. not bad

  33. funny error
    Posted April 2, 2010 at 3:00 pm

pest control is good for members to train at. If u hve 85 slayer then train on abyssal demons, they are great xp and good to make money at (whips ftw). Other creatures:yaks, desert bandits (afk with guthans or bunyip) and monkey gaurds.

  35. noob guide.
    Posted April 8, 2010 at 8:40 pm

how can u leave out giant spiders?? if u dnt knw tht u got issues , if ur lvl 80 try giant spiders up til 99 like i did every other skill bandits in desert another good option, and armoured zombs dnt forget salve (e) amulet but apart from tht most ppl sw it 96+ i did it at 98-99 , best of luck to you all.

    Posted May 8, 2010 at 7:03 pm

good guide, but it should be
    1-10 chickens
    10-50 monks
    50-99 sugar aharks

  38. john baytes
    Posted May 8, 2010 at 7:09 pm

great guide, but be real, this mini guide is better by far
    1-10 cows
    10-20 goblins
    20-30 wizards
    30-40 pvp
    40-50 hill giants
    50-60 lessers
    60-99 chickens
chickens have low demand and are easy kill at these levels

  39. Posted May 9, 2010 at 11:03 am

this is a terriable guide,,,lessers are not even a decent way to train. Learn Something before posting it.

Worst guide ever. To the guy who said hes getting 36k xp an hour, thats terrible.
from about 80-99, you should train on armoured zombies. They give close to 75k xp an hour, depending on your level. I have 92 defence right now, and thats how i did it, and it didn’t take long.
    36k lmao

    Posted June 14, 2010 at 11:55 am

Oh, you have to be a member and completed the first part of defender of varrock. (get up to the point when the spie stops following you arround.) If this is a f2p guide, I guess its ok.

  44. Posted August 16, 2010 at 12:15 pm

Worst guide ever. Nobody even mentioned guthaning with desert bandits >.>

You can just wear full guthans and a saradmoin cape, and sit in the bandits house. free xp. can sit there for like 10 hours till guthans break.

okay guys he posted this guide for F2P which last i checked the only thing he forgot was spiders but to many people stay at spiders with bots so id say he made a good choice and those members who keep saying member ways for it you can\’t access that as a nonmember idoit and i used to be a member had quest cape so as member i never did bandits and have 90 def i trained on Tzharr Creatures but he made a good guide for the info that is provided for nonmembers who don\’t want to bot.
