RuneScape: Fist of Guthix: Rune Scimitar vs.. Gravite Rapier
Rune Scimitar Vs. Gravite Rapier. Pro fights. Noob Fights.
If you have played Fist of Guthix for some time and are getting the hang of the mini-game, there comes a time when you start picking your outfit and setup. Especially during pro fights, sometimes fast attack style switching and fake switching just don’t cut it for a win every time.
Weaponry in Fist of Guthix is very often debated upon, armour setup on the other hand is largely up to the player themselves.
In this article I will compare the two most used ranged weapons in Fist of Guthix by pro players, Rune Scimitar and the Gravite Rapier.
The Rune Scimitar in stats.
+45 Slash attack bonus.
+44 Strength bonus.
The Gravite Rapier in stats.
+50 Stab attack bonus.
+48 Strength bonus.
The Comparison
These two weapons differ both in accuracy and maximum hit. The extra 4 strength bonus of the gravite rapier increases the maximum hit by 7(LP). Usage of Rune Gauntlets, strength amulet etc still only increases the hit by 7LP in comparison. The extra 5 attack bonus also mean it is more accurate. So from the numbers alone, one would not hesitate at all to say the gravite rapier is a definite have over the rune scimitar. But there are a few other points to consider.
There are of course the human barriers, such as not wanting to Dungeoneering, or not willing to spend tokens on a free-to-play item. Those are not part of this decision, this decision is based in a Fist of Guthix scenario.
In a tank fight: Ranged(60%), Melee(30%), Magic(10%)
In a run fight: Ranged(70%), Melee(10%), Magic(20%)
During pro fights the most setups include Runecrafting robes, these have the same defence bonus toward slash and stab. But if someone is wearing full rune, rune has a higher defence bonus toward stab than slash. But in Fist of Guthix, the extra 10-15 defence bonus plays a minute role considering that all stats are reduced.
Repair costs may also affect your decision, if paying directly with gp, then you must consider if you are able to pay for it through its usage in Fist of Guthix. I am only taking into account money made through Fist of Guthix, not elsewhere. Each gravite rapier hit costs around 60-65gp if paying with the 1 million gp. On average you may use your rapier 15-25 times during a single fight, so 1250gp per fight is the rough estimate I’m going to use. Each Fist of Guthix fight earns around 8 or 9 tokens per win. And each token is worth around 400-500gp to be safe. So 3000gp is roughly earned and 1250gp is spent. But you aren’t going to win every match, so using these numbers you have to win 1 in 2.4 fights, or ~45% of your fights. So you can easily pay for it provided you are an above average Fist of Guthix player.
Don’t worry about cost if you are paying with tokens and gp.
Note: Both have the same weight.
The Verdict?
The Gravite Rapier is a must over a Rune Scimitar, not only does it hit more, it hits more accurately and is easy to maintain with no gp loss incurred. I would highly recommend the gravite rapier to anyone who is looking to become a pro Fist of Guthix player. A Rune Scimitar is a good way to when you start out in Fist of Guthix as you may not be winning all of your matches.
Hopefully that helps you in your decision.
