How to get various herbs, what potions you can mix with each; about the costs and getting them by farming…
A complete description about the herbs.
The herbs are one of the earliest released items in RuneScape. They have special effects if you mix them with water and you can drink the received potions to boost your skills or for example defend yourself against dragonfire. These herbs are dropped by monsters; but you can farm them too with a good farming level.
The list of herbs and their uses:
Guam: used to make attack potions [+eye of newt] at level 3 and fishing explosives [rubium] at level 31.
Marrentil: at level 5 they are used to create anti-poison potions, this way is very expensive because there is ground unicorn horn needed as secondary ingredient. Mix marrentil with 15 swamp tar to get 15 marrentil tar. Marentil tars are used to feed orange salamanders.
Harralander: Used to make harralander tars (with 15 swamp tar), and combat potions (goat horn needed). Combat potions give a lot of xp at low herblore but goat horns are not easy to get.
Ranarr: A lot of people kill chaos druids to obtain ranarr leafs. They cost about ten thousand gold pieces and they are used to make prayer or maybe super prayer potions.
Tarromin: With limpwurt root members have a new way to create strength potions. In free to play servers limwurt roots can only mixed with red spider’s eggs. Level 12 herblore needed to produce them.
Torstol: to make Zamorak brews torstol is the firstly ingredient. There is no more potions you can mix using Torstol weed, except overload potion.
Dwarf weed: with Zamorak vine you can mix ranging potions, and upgrade these to extreme ranging ones. [The best ranged boost in RuneScape.]
Lantadyme: to extreme defence potions, anti-fire potions, magic potions, lantadyme is the firstly ingredient. Its price moves between 3 and 4 thousand gold pieces.
Avantoe: A player cleans grimy avantoes over level 48 herblore. With some leafs people make hunter and super energy potions.
Irit: super attack, super anti-poison: these are popular, tradable potions and there is an irit needed to make them.
Kwuarm: Its price rises every day after the untradable potions update (Oct., 2009), because these are very popular to make super strength potions with (less costs and a lot of xp). To farm these there is a link at the bottom of page.
Snapdragon: The most expensive weed. Used to make super restores. This is the only herb not dropped by chaos dwarves.
Spirit weed: at level 40 herblore there is ability to make summoning potions via combining spirit weeds with cockatrice eggs. Players sometimes farm this because its seed is cheap.
Wergali: used to produce crafting and fletching potions: to crafting there is frog spawn, to fletching there is wimpy feather needed as secondary ingredient.
Cadantine: with white berries you can make a super defence at level 66. In grand exchange you can sell a cadantine at lowest in about 15 minutes.
Toadflax: with crushed nests they are used to make the most traded potion: the Saradomin brew. They heal a lot of hitpoints. 15% of your regular hitpoints per dose.
Untradable herbs (Jungle potion quest):
