RuneScape – Making a Pure

A guide on how to make pures for pking.

This is a guide to making the best Runescape pures.  Creaing pures in Runescape is not as easy or as fast as it sounds. Maybe for lower levels, but even they take some time. Firstly, simply getting one stat to a high level does not make you a pure, or a very good fighter against monsters, or when killing other players.

A pure is an account that has trained one particular stat a lot more than the others, and this guide will tell you the recommended stats for different pures, and places to train, how long it takes, when to train other stats etc.

I’ll start off with a strength pure. The best thing is to train on rats. Make sure you get 5 attack, then start getting strength up. Once you have 5 attack you will want to go to Al-Kharid and buy a steel scimitar. Then start training your strength. I recommend cows, as they provide cowhides, which can be sold later to help get your other supplies. Once you have 40 strength, you can get your attack to 20 which lets you use a mithril scimitar. Now one of the best places to train would be on monks, which are in a small temple/church, just west of Edgeville. You want your strength to 50, then attack to 30 which will let you use an adamant scimitar. Now a decent place to train can be on jail guards, or just guards at Varrock and Edgeville, or you can stick to the monks. Once you have 50 strength and 30 attack, train your strength to 60. Then attack to 41. Not 40, 41. Now this is the part where your pure strength gets his armour, without raising your defence. Increase your range level to 41. This means you can use dragonhide armour for extra defence without raising your combat level. If you would like to use prayer, get that up too, but this will increase your combat level. If you are a member keep increasing strength and get attack to 61 for dragon dagger (p++) or longsword/scimitar later on once the required quests have been completed. Also raise range to 70 if you are a member and have higher strength and attack, as this will let you use black dragonhide, once again giving extra defence, while not increasing your combat level. I hope this guide helps you out a bit in making a strength pure.

Now for the range pure.

Buy shortbow, oak shortbow, willow shortbow, maple shortbow, and if you are a member, then you want a yew shortbow and magic shortbow as well. Then buy 5k+ bronze, iron or steel arrows, if you can’t afford this, do the members transfer, or start earning money by collecting cowhides, or shearing sheep for wool, which do sell for 100+ each. It is essential that you do not get your defence up to use some of the ranger armour, as this will make your pure worse. All you want is range right now. The same places to train the strength pure are recommended for a range pure. When ranging, it is essential that you use ranger armour, as this increases your accuracy and damage. Some ranger armour requires defence, but remember not to get defence up as this will increase your combat level unncessarily. If you are a member, go to the range guild once past 40 range, this is an excellent place to train range, and you can get rune arrows as rewards. Pure rangers are extremely effective at 80+ range. You can even kill the people using rune armour easily, and have almost a guaranteed change of hitting them, and high.

Now lastly, the mage pure. A mage pure is generally the hardest as it costs runes, like rangers need arrows, but you will not be able to collect your runes of the ground, like arrows, and you use a lot more runes. Luckily the Fist of Guthix mini-game, gives you free runes for the game, and this is a good way to increase your magic level for members, or non-members. As a mage pure, you never want to increase defence, unless you are a member, and this is at higher mage levels, or if you have 99 mage. Otherwise do not train defence and it will not help you at all. Pure mages, are excellent against melee fighters, especially when they are not a strength pure. Once you can do fire blast with a pure mage, melee fighters will never stand a chance against you, they will be wiped out quick and easy, and this is brilliant for pvp worlds. Be aware that training mage does take longer than the others especially at low levels, because of generally having to train at Fist of Guthix, and if you don’t want to do this, mages are extremely expensive to train.

Great Guide! helped a lot although I think it would be wise to raise your defense as much as you can without leveling a combat level if you dont plan on raising your mage any more levels. All in all good tho :)

Actually, the thing with defense is that it will always raise your combat level.

    Leveling works like this:

There are 3 types of level – this doesn’t include summoning.

    Melee
    Range
    Mage

Melee consists of attack and strength.
    Range consists of well….range.
    Mage consists of mage obviously.

Constitution, prayer, and defense can fit into any of these.

If attack and strength are both at 40, your combat level might be 50 say. I’m not saying it is, but let’s say it is. And you also have 50 constitution.

If you get to 50 range, it will not change your combat level, because your combat level based on range would be less than your melee combat level, and your actual combat level is the highest out of these.

The other 3 stats, fit into any of these. That means raising defense WILL raise your combat level, regardless of the type of pure you have. Hence, a pure should never raise their defense, unless they are a member, and even then, only for certain types of pures.

And if you meant jut a few levels, you still wouldn’t want to, as your mage or range or whatever will increase while pking.
