RuneScape Merchandising Clans: Good or Bad?
Can you really make big money out of these merchanting clans? How do they really make gold pieces?
I bet all of you have heard of clans like “we luv cash” or “2lum”. Those are merchanting clans. What’s so special about these clans?
Merchanting clans are a group of people who manipulate the prices. It is also called “buy low, sell high”. What they do is that their leader buy alot of an item and then they ask their clan members, to buy the same item, causing the item to skyrocket in price. Then the leaders sell all of their items, making the item to drop again, which causes the other clan members to be behind with JUNK. The only one gaining any money is their clan leaders.
Here is an example:
- A clan with one leader buy alot of sapphire rings for 850 gp.
- Now he asks people to join his clan saying “if you want to make big money join our clan!” or something
- After about 72 people has joined his clan, the asks people to buy sapphire rings (let’s say each person buys 25 sapphire rings) about 40 gp above market price, which is 890 gp per each ring.
- Then the leader sell their rings.
Some calculations:
Leader buy sapphire rings for 850 gp each = 1800 * 850 = 1 530 000 gp (spent leader on rings)
72 people buys 25 sapphire rings = 72 * 25 = 1800 rings total
Leader starts selling his rings 890 gp each. All clan members together buy 1800 rings for 890 gp each = 1800 * 890 = 1 602 000 gp
Leader’s profit = 1 602 000 gp – 1 530 000 gp = 72 000 gp profit
I hope you understood my example, but I got only one thing to say – DON’T do merchanting clans!
