RuneScape Power Fishing Guide F2P 1-99

How to train your fishing skill from 1-99 in f2p, and how to make money at the same time!

Introduction

Fishing is one of the most useful skills in Runescape, as everyone needs food at one point or another, and you are the supplier to those folks when you fish. As well as a skill easy to train, fishing can be very rewarding, money-wise. Some fish sell on the GE really fast, and for lots of money. Fishing can make you rich, with work, of course!

1-20

When you start out in Runescape, two types of fish can be caught: Shrimp, and crayfish. Since crayfish are caught faster, it is better to level up with crayfish. Obtain a free crayfish cage from Hank’s Fishing Shop in Lumbridge, and head behind the Lumbridge church. This place is seldom crowded, as not many people catch crayfish. Once you have a full inventory, head either to the Lumbridge “town center” in front of the castle, or to the general store. You can sell the crayfish to either players, or the general store. Catch crayfish until level 20. This should only take 1 to 2 hours to complete.

20-30

Once you get to level 20, trout can be caught. Next, you’ll need to head to world 1. Buy a fly fishing rod and 180 feathers (for the feathers you can just kill chickens if you like). Walk to Barbarian Village with the rod and feathers in inventory. Head slightly east of the village until you get to the bridge, than (without crossing the bridge,) head north a little bit where you’ll see some people fishing. Start fishing. Once you get a full inventory, look for people saying: “Need Free Raws” or “Need Fraws”. trade with these people, give them your fish, and continue fishing. (note that there are two fishing spots, one above the other, so if one runs out, go to the other one.)

30-40

Now you can catch salmon. These are also caught with the fly fishing rod and feathers, so just keep at it, staying at Barbarian Village. If you need to, head south of Barbarian Village to the farm to replentish your stock of feathers (you will need about 450 to get to level 40). Continue catching trout and the occasional salmon and getting rid of them as you go. Catch these until you get to level 40, where things start to get interesting.

30-99

Alternatevely, you could just keep catching trout and salmon until level 99, as they are the fastest xp, but as far as money goes, they aren’t much. If you want to switch gears from power fishing, level 40 is a good time to do that, but you can do what fits your character best.

40-50

From here on, I’m focusing on profits. Now you need to buy a lobster pot at any fishing store or the GE, and head to Port Sarim with your pot and 30gp. Talk to one of the sailors and sail to Karamja. Follow the path until you get to a gate in the banana plantation. head north-ish until you get to a dock with a fishing icon on your minimap. start fishing lobsters. This is slow work, but each inventory is worth about 40k. Fish these until lvl 50.

50-99

Now head back to Port Sarim and buy a harpoon. Once again go to the same place on Karamja. Start fishing for swordfish. You will undoubtedly catch many tuna at this low level, but just drop them and procede. Once you have a full inventory of Swordfish, note at Stiles, and keep going. This is the most profitable fishing in Free-To-Play.

Conclusion

Fishing is a very profitable skill, but only at higher levels. Power fishing is good so that you will be able to taste the profits of high levels faster, but once you reach level 40, the profits start coming. Keep fishing!
