Start Point: Basement of the wizard tower, south of Draynor
To Start: Examine the study papers on the east desk
1. Examine the study papers on the east desk in the basement. The wizard there will stop you from looking at them at first, but he recognizes you afterward as the person who helped him with his essence project. He will tell you about his latest discovery. He wants you to bring his papers to Aubury in his shop in Varrock.
2. Go to Aubury and give him the papers. He will tell you the theory is correct, but in that in reality it could be a problem. He will ask you to see Grimhault in the Dark Wizard Tower west of Falador.
3. Go to the Dark Wizard Tower. Grimhault is on the top floor. Talk to him and he will tell you it is possible. Report back to Zenvior in the Wizards Tower.
4. When in the basement of the Wizard Tower a cut scene will play involving Zenvior merging a rune essence with fire. After the cut scene, he will tell you he was already experimenting with his theory, and it works. Confirm it by handing him the papers.
5. He will tell you that rune essence cannot only be bundled with elemental energy to create runes, but that the essence can also be bound with the element. When you can select multiple options, select the ‘How could this be used in combat?’ option.
6. He will ask you to make a sword out of rune essence to test his theory. He also warns you that the hilt needs to be coated with an element-resistant coating; otherwise you’ll be hurt due to the massive elemental energy.
7. Go to Kelgradim and talk to Harment, he’s the dwarf in the building next to the anvil. Ask him about making an essence sword.
8. He’ll tell you that you need massive heat to melt the essence into a shape able form. Also, you could make a hilt out of iron and coat it with enchanted silver. He will also give you some Wet Clay to make a hilt mould with.
9. Go to an anvil and use your longsword with it. Your character will break of its hilt by hammering on it. Use the hilt with the Wet Clay to make a Hilt Mould.
10. Now go back to Harment and show him the Hilt mould. He’ll tell you to coat the inside with enchanted silver. The silver has to be purified before the enchantment, but can’t be exposed to heat, so you can’t just melt it into a bar.
11. Go see Grimhault in the Dark Wizard Tower, and he’ll give you half of a Purifying Stone.
He’ll tell you Zenvior has the other half.
12. Go to the Wizard Tower and get the other half of a Purifying Stone. Use one on the other to get a Purifying Stone. Use the stone on the silver ore to get purified silver ore.
13. Now go to Aubury in Varrock and ask him to enchant the silver to resist elements. He will ask you a small favor for it. You need to bring him a book from the Varrock library.
14. Search some shelves in the library until you find a book called ‘Magic throughout the ages’. Bring this to Aubury and he’ll enchant your silver. Use the silver with the Hilt Mould to get Coated Hilt Mould. Take the bucket of water in the house next door.
15. Go to a furnace and use an iron bar on it to make Silver Coated Hilt. Your Coated Hilt Mould will turn back into a normal Hilt Mould.
16. Now take your 10 pure essence and your Silver Coated Hilt, together with your Ice Gloves. Go to the elemental workshop in the Seers’ Village and get the furnace running, just like in the Elemental Workshop – Part I. Wear your ice gloves. Use your essence with the furnace to receive a Hot Lump of Essence. You have to wield this in your weapon slot and is two-handed. If you did not wear your ice gloves before melting the essence you will burn yourself and get 5 damage every two seconds if you don’t drop it.
17. Go to an anvil in the workshop and use the Hot Lump of Essence on it to craft an essence blade. You receive 500 Smithing and Crafting experience for this.
18. Use the bucket of water with the essence blade to cool it. You can now un-equipt your ice gloves.
19. Use the essence blade with the Coated Hilt. Your character will say the parts don’t fit. Use the chisel with the essence blade to get altered essence blade. The parts will now fit.
20. Go see Zenvior and he will cast a spell sealing the essence blade together with the hilt. You now receive unfinished essence sword.
21. Use the uncharged orb with the sword to create uncharged essence sword. The sword can now be wielded, but has no attack bonuses or special attack.
22. Talk to Zenvior again and he’ll teach you how to elementalise the sword. He’ll tell you you need 20 Cosmic runes and 50 Air, Water, Earth, Fire or Mind runes. Right click your uncharged essence sword and select, ‘Element’. Select the element you want on the pop up screen. See the table below for the needed levels to add an element the sword:

(*) Note: These can only be made after the Recharged quest.
23. Talk to Zenvior to finish the quest.
Congratulations! Quest Complete!
(!) If you lose your sword, you can make a new one by using the Purifying Stone to make purified silver, use it with your Hilt Mould, and use it to make a Coated Hilt.
For the blade, repeat steps 16-20, then add the uncharged orb.
Now you can add an element to it.
(! ) The element of your sword does not alter the stat bonuses of your sword. It only changes the special attack.
