RuneScape Range/2her Guide

Guide to Training a FTP Range/2her.

Range/2hers are my favorite kind of pker(for ftp.) They can be very effective if you know how to use it right. So let’s just get right down to it and head in for some training.

If you haven’t completed the tutorial you must do that. Once your done do the Stronghold of Security and the Player Safety Stronghold. Both are located in barbarian village. You will get 20k from those, some boots and gloves, and 2 lamps that give 500 xp to any skill. I reccommend using these on range, or hitpoints. Time for some shopping! Head over to the Grand Exchange and buy these items:

Full iron(not legs), strength ammy, power ammy, a mithril and adamant scimmy, every shortbow, a cowl, a coif, leather chaps, leather body, studded chaps, and 1k bronze arrows. Now it’s time to train.

1-15 range

Go to Lumbridge chicken farm(not the one by the cows, that one is always crowded) and range chickens until 15 range. Use accurate attack style until level 5, then switch to rapid. Make sure you switch bows whenever possible. Pick up all your arrows and all feathers.

15-30 range

Once you hit 15 range, head over to the cow pen at Beefy Bills(right by the windmill just north of the chickens) Range up some cows until you hit 30 range. Pick up all your arrows and cowhides. Bank your hides at Beefy Bill. He keeps 1 hide for every 10 you bank. So if you bank 20, he’ll keep 2. If you run low on arrows head back to the Grand Exchange and sell all your feathers & cowhides.

30-40-50 range

With 30 range you can use maple bows, the best bow in ftp. Now head over to minotaurs in the Stronghold of Security. You can hide behind a fence and range them. Pick up any gems, noted rune ess, and iron arrows. Keep ranging these until 50 range. Once you hit 40 though make sure you switch to green d’hide vambs and chaps. You could also move to hill giants and range them to make some money by collecting limps/big bones, but I wouldn’t suggest it as it is very crowded.

Now your 50 range and you’re wondering what to train on. Well the best thing in my opinion would be flesh crawlers or stick with minotaurs. Flesh Crawlers are located on the 2nd floor of the Stronghold of Security in the far north-west room. They are level 35 and have 25 hitpoints, and they’re max hit is 1. They do tend to hit quite a lot on people with 1 def though. However, if you go to the north-eastern corner by the door and stay there, they cannot attack you. So this is a great way to safespot train range. Keep training here until 65 range. If you would like to try something new, you could try Moss Giants. They are on Crandor Island(requires dragon slayer completed up to the part where you must kill the dragon), or in the Varrock sewers. To get into the varrock sewer ones, you need a knife or something sharp to cut through some spider webs.

Well your 65 range, congratulations. Now we can move on to bigger and better things. From 65+ you’ll be ranging lesser demons on Karajama. If you would like, you may stick with Moss Giants, or maybe try out something new like DMing people in the Duel Arena. Bring a few lobsters with you just in case. Anyway, there are plently of places where you can safespot here, just look around or go to where other rangers are at. While ranging these guys i’d use steel arrows, or mith if you can afford them. Stay here until your at least 70 range.

Well now your 70+ range, time to get the 2h part of your Range/2her!

~£nd of Ranging part~ 1-10 strength

While training strength/attack, you outfit should be: Strength amulet, green d’hide chaps and vambs, iron plate, iron full helm, iron kiteshield, any cape, and fancy/fighting boots. Use best scimmy you can.

Remember those scimitars and full iron and the strength ammy we bought awhile back? Time to put them to good use! Head over to draynor village and start “Vampire Slayer” quest. When you face the vampire use range. You will easily destroy him. Once he is dead the quest is complete, and you just got a free 20 attack levels! So now wield your mith scimmy. Time for Strength! Back to good old chickens…Stay at chickens from 1-10 strength. Collect feathers again.

10-20 strength

Yep…..Cows. Figures….Well just keep slashing at em until you 20 strength. You can collect cowhides to make some money. Shouldn’t take very long for 20 strength.

20-30 strength and attack

Multiple choices here….You could kill barbians, minotaurs, alkharid warriors, or monks. Personally I’d go with minotaurs. Minotaurs drop plenty of iron arrows which can be used for ranging. They also drop noted rune essence, and noted copper and tin. Alkharid warriors occasionally drop some runes or bronze arrows, but other then that they have bad drops. Barbarians also occasionally drop runes and bronze arrows. Monks have no drops except bones, but a bonus is that they can heal you. Anyway just attack something until 30 attack and strength.

30-40 attack and strength

Don’t forget you adamant scimmy now. You could keep training on minotaurs which is what i reccommend, or you could try DMing a friend at the duel arena. This is great experience. Once your 40 attack get a rune scimmy. If you really want to you could try out Flesh Crawlers on the 2nd floor of the Stronghold of Security. However, you will use quite alot of food at this level.

40-50-60+ strength

Yay your 40 attack, the highest attack level you should be on a ftp pure. Now, it’s just strength all the way! With 40 strength I’d kill minotaurs until 50, then i’d head over to flesh crawlers until 60. The setup for fleshcrawlers should be:

You could take away 1 strength pot if you wish and add another pie.

Drink a dose of potion, then attack away. Btw the pizza should be the best pizza you can afford. If you really don’t want to use pizza, try pies or cakes. I’d reccomend training here for the remainder of you runescape pure career. You could try mixing things up a bit and training somewhere else, but this is the best place.

PKING

Here’s my pking inventory:

Wear:

leather body
coif
maple shortbow
strength amulet
a team cape
fancy/fighting/leather boots
green d’hide chaps
green d’hide vambraces
about 75 addy arrows

Tactic:

Well get you Earned Potential rating to 70%+. To do this, bring 26k into a bounty hunter/pvp world and wait. Every 30 minute your rate goes up by 25% so it takes 2 hours to get full 100%. After you get your EP up, you can go pk. Wear/bring what i showed above. Pot up before you fight. Attack your opponent with range(rapid) and keep bringing him down to low health. The first time he gets red barred(his health is really low) just keep on attacking him with range. However when you red bar him again, wait until you life your bow to shoot an arrow, then quickly switch to your 2h/battleaxe and attack him again. This way the damage should “stack” and hit range damage, and damage from the 2h/battleaxe. Hopefully this will be enough to KO him, but if not keep ranging him down to low health, then 2h him again. I might post a video showing this later.

Money Making

Well there are a few ways to make money, really depends on your choice on whether you want to get your non-combat skills up, or leave them at one. If you decide to get up a skill, I’d suggest fishing. Fishing is a easy skill, once you hit level 20 you start leveling quickly by fly-fishing. At level 40 you can fish lobsters, but i’d wait until 50+ If you don’t want to do Fishing you could try Woodcutting. The real money from this only comes in once your 60+ woodcutting so you can cut down yews. However if you don’t want to do Fishing or Woodcutting, you could try out Mining. Mining is a pretty fast skill that can make you tons of money. Just mine whatever until 15 mining, then mine iron until 50. Once your 50 start mining coal and banking it. Mining runite is the best money making method in FTP, but you need 85 mining for it, and it’s only located in the furthest wilderness.

If you don’t want to train skills for money, you could make money from other things. You could kill hill giants for big bones/limpwruts, merchant, pk, or loot stuff. A personal favorite of mine is this:

Complete the runes mysteries quest and then get an air tiara and a lot of Rune Essence. Go to world 16 in Varrock(JaGex moved the air altar from Falador to Varrock) and go into the Air Altar. There should be someone in there that has a high Runecrafting level and will Assist you. Look around for people saying 8x or 9x or 10x. These people are your new friends. Request their Assistance and when they give it to you craft your runes. This will not give you experience, but you get the runes. So say you brought 28 rune essence with you, and got an assist by 8xer. You just turned that 28 essence into 224 air runes. $,$

~£nd~

Well that concludes my guide on how to make a FTP range/2her. I hope you enjoy it, I’ll probably be back to edit in more information. If there’s anything you think I should add, please tell me.
