RuneScape Ranging Guide
This Ranging guide will show you perhaps the fastest way to get to level 99 ranging in RuneScape for F2P only.
Lvl 1-10 Train on chickens. The gear you’ll need is an ordinary bow, however much bronze arrows you can afford, and some armor. (Preferably Leather items) Use the “Rapid” method of fighting with a bow when you train ranging. Go to the chickens and start killing them. Collect all the feathers and sell them sometime later. Once you reach level 5 ranging, buy as much iron arrows as possible, and start killing cows. You might also want to consider training defense for the higher level equipment. Keep killing cows until your ranging level is 10.
Lvl 11-20 You’ll want to keep killing cows for their cowhide, or you might want to consider killing goblins. Cows reap a profit, but goblins offer more exp. It’s your choice. Once you reach about level 16, start training on Barbarians in the “Long Hall.” Have the barbarian on once side, and you on the other. DO NOT FIGHT ANY BARBARIAN WHO HAS RANGED ITEMS. They might just kill you if you have low hp. Once you start killing Barbarians, you’ll find its easy.
Lvl 21-30 You might want to consider getting some mithril arrows at this point. Of course, you’ll also need the suitable bow for the arrows. With the mithril arrows, go and keep killing barbarians. They are the fastest kill with the most experience offered. Hill giants are another option, but for low level people hill giants are not advised. Once you reach level 28-ish, you may choose to fight higher level barbarians.
Lvl 31-40 OK, now you’re definitely ready for some higher level monsters. If your combat level (NOT YOUR RANGING) is at least 30, then you’re good to go. Go and kill the Hill Giants. You’ll want to have a brass key. Before crossing the bridge to Barbarian Village, go up. You’ll see a small hut. Use the Key on the hut door, and the door will creak open. Once you climb down, you’ll find that there are other people there. It’s because Hill Giants reap a good profit and training exp. After you kill Hill Giants, pick up the big bones, and if they drop limpwurt roots, pick that up as well. A full inventory of Big Bones and Limpwurt roots equals about 12k, more than enough to buy Full Green Dragonhide.
Lvl 41-50 If you have beaten Dragon Slayer, then get full Dragonhide. (Green) It’ll help in defense against hill giants. Now, you might want to buy more mithril arrows, or perhaps even adamant. The better arrows, the better the exp for you. If you’re rich, you’ll definitely want to buy adamant. If you’re not rich, well, stick to Mithril. Keep battling the hill giants until you reach level 50 ranging.
Lvl 51-60 OK, now you’ll want to have at least 500 adamant arrows and a lot of mithril arrows. Go to the Karamjan volcano and start fighting the Lesser Demons. (only for people who have done Dragon Slayer) There are some safe spots behind the spear thingys. Hide behind them and start ranging the Demons. They can’t hit you, so you’ll be safe. If you haven’t done Dragon Slayer yet, then you’ll want to just fight the hill giants.
Lvl 61-99 OK, now it’s the really difficult part. You’ll definitely want to be using adamant arrows, best armor for f2p, and have a combat level of at least 60. Keep fighting the Lesser Demons, but always be cautious at this stage. If you decide you want a challenge, go to the wilderness. At around level 19, there will be some ruins. Go in there, and there are Greater Demons. You can fight these demons in safe zones scattered across the ruins. These greater demons will prove a challenge, as they have more hp, a combat level of 92, and have a somewhat high hit (I believe its 10, but I can’t be sure.) Well, you’re at the high stretch now, just train hard, and really keep the hope that you will reach level 99. I mean, Zezima did it, right? Good Luck~~

normally i wouldnt use this guide but it is still good
