RuneScape Ranging Guide

Monsters sneering at you from places you can’t reach with melee? Then pick up a bow, some arrows, and this guide.

Ranging takes lots of money to train, so I suggest you read one of my money-making guides: Runescape Money Making Mining Guide, Runescape Money-Making Smithing Guide, Runescape Money-Making Woodcutting Guide, or Runescape Money-Making Runecrafting Guide. For members, I would suggest the woodcutting guide, as you can fletch the logs you cut into arrows and bows.

Level 1-20:

Get some leather armor and 1k (1,000) bronze or iron arrows and a short bow. If you don’t have a high defense, then find a place where you can attack a monster safely and where you can pick up your arrows after killing it. At level 5, get an oak bow. When you run out of arrows, just get more.

Level 20-40:

Get studded leather and steel or mith arrows and a willow shortbow. If you kill the monsters at your old training place too fast, then I suggest finding a new training place. At level 30, get a maple shortbow.

Level 40-60:

Get d’hide and lots of mith arrows. The best place to train is at barbarian bar, but if you need money, giants is good too.

Level 60+:

Now, go train at lesser demons in Karamja Volcano and bring mith arrows and food. There is a place where lessers can’t attack you if you attack them, so ranging there would be best.

Level 60+(members):

Get the highest d’hide you can wear and if you have fog(fist of guthix) tokens, get the d’hide coif. There are many places that you can train and many weapons that you can use. One would be pest control. At pest control, getting to lvl 99 is faster because of the experience rewards. But for those whose experience has an unlimited amount of resources behind it, then using exploding chinchompas to power-level to 99. This by far the fastest way to get to 99, but probably the most expensive.
