If you are just making a RuneScape account, are a low level and have no idea what to do, or if you’re wondering if there was an easier way when you were a noob, this guide is for you.

Making Money at level 3-15+

One of the fastest ways to make money when you are just starting out in RuneScape is to train combat a little higher, and then kill cows. A new player should start out training combat on chickens which are located near area with a green circle around it. Chickens should not require food, as they rarely even hit a 1. The feathers dropped by chickens should be kept to sell. Once you are confident enough to kill a cow (probably around combat level 5) go to the Grand Exchange with the feathers and right-click on the desk and select “Exchange.” If you have not used it before, you will have to talk to the Grand Exchange Tutor before you can buy and sell items. Once you are done with the tutorial, on the exchange screen, click on the bag with an arrow going away from it and click on the feathers in you inventory, then click on “Sell all” and confirm the offer. Your offer can take anywhere from seconds to weeks to complete, but since feathers are a commonly traded item, they will usually sell quickly. Once you have sold your feathers, right click on one of the bankers and select “collect,” then get your gold from the banker.

Once you have enough money, I recommend buying the best scimitar you can use, which would probably be iron, steel, or black. If you have money left over, buy armor like Iron Platebody, Iron Platelegs, and Iron Full Helm.

Cows

After you are done at the Grand Exchange (GE for short), click on the Magic tab and select Home Port. Note that this can only be used once every half hour. Once you are back in Lumbridge, talk to Bob in the store with and axe icon over it in the minimap, right-click on him, and select “trade.” Get a free bronze axe and tinderbox from the “free samples” section and then go chop down a normal tree. Trees are located almost everywhere on the map. After you get two or three logs, go to the blue circled area and click on a cow or cow calf (not “Dairy Cow”) to attack it. Once you kill it, bury the bones, keep the cowhide to sell, and either cook the beef if you need food, or sell it. After you get a few cowhides, go back to the Grand Exchange and sell the cowhides and beef, then buy a better weapon and armor.

Once cows become extremely easy to kill, move on to stronger enemies to fight, but remember cows are still useful for making money.

TIP: If and area like the cow pasture is too crowded, logout and go to the world selection screen and sort by least players, then join a world with fewer players.
