RuneScape – The Bandos Gwd Series – Killing General Graardor with a Team

Part One of my Bandos God Wars Dungeon Guide. In this guide, I will explain to you how to kill General Graardor (the Bandos Boss) with a team.

Introduction

The God Wars Dungeon (GWD) is one of the most dangerous areas in Runscape. It is a place where people go to pit their skills in combat against some mighty gods of Runescape for various riches (Hilts, armour pieces, unique weapons, etc.). These gods are – Bandos, Zamorak, Saradomin and Armadyl. If this is your first time, try to bring items you are willing to lose. Hopefully anyone reading this guide will know how to enter the dungeon, getting the killcounts and etc., so I won’t need to go through that.

Bandos, is the without a doubt the best god to fight for people who are new to the GWD, as the strategy to deafeat the boss – both solo and in teams – is quite simple. Also, the level requirements aren’t as high as the other gods, like Armadyl, so many lower leveled players can choose to kill the Bandos boss (General Graardor), as well as the fact that in teams, which is where most new players would go, it is really easy to last up to 6 hours in a trip, which is difficult for the other gods.

This is Part 1 on the entire Bandos section of the God Wars Dungeon, including killing the boss in teams, solo and what can be done outside of the boss room.

What Stats You and the Team Needs

Bandos teams consists of one tanker, and some attackers. I believe that you get great results & splits with 4 attackers, but that varies from person to person. I rarely go to Bandos with more than 4 other people for example.

Recommended stats:

80+ attack

80+ strength

80+ defence (85+ for tank)

80+ hp

70+ prayer

52+ summoning

Note: Aggressive familiars will cause the boss to attack YOU, so if you are not the tank I recommend a familiar that doesn’t fight (Bunyip, Fruitbat, Unicorn, etc.) Tankers are allowed to have whatever they want, since the boss is already attacking them anyway.

The Tanker

The tanker is playing the biggest role on the Bandos team. Note, that this isn’t hard to do at all. Tanking at Zamorak is way harder, you just need a little practice and a good team here. That makes the chance of you dying is minimal. And even if you do, gravestones will save you. Obviously, pray melee at all times while the boss is alive.

There is basically two tankers: Guthan tankers and non Guthan tankers.

Guthan is by far the best. While your tanking, you can simply put on Guthans and begin attacking minions to heal. Eat when necessary, I believe that’s when your under 60hp, but that’s just me again and I tend to safe a lot, and keep concentrated. Other more experienced tankers usually heal if under 35hp.

With a team of 3+ attackers, you don’t have to wear any mage defence gear. The mage will usually attack others, so Guthans range defence will come in very handy when Graardor uses his second attack.

[Tip; Using a Saradomin Godsword for the tanker is very usefull, but only use it for the specs and minions. If you got it, it will definitely helps.

Once you've killed Graardor, ask your team to leave a minion alone, preferably range, to you to heal on. I'd recommend the mage range minion, as rangers have very low melee defence. But so does mages, so that's up to you. Keep on melee pray + (Piety) or (15% defence) prayer on. You decide here; If you and your team is low leveled, you may want to use Piety for the extra defence bonus. I personally just do 15% (Steel Skin).

Remember: Your role is to TAKE damage. Not to DEAL it!

Once you've killed Graardor and minions, place yourself in front of the rest of your team, so you easily can attack Graardor as the first. Do not let your teammates get attacked by Graardor. Shortens your trip, and makes then annoyed and maybe even mad at you.

This is what you could wear as Guthan tanker:

- Guthan Helm

- Fury / Zamorak stole / Glory amulet

- Guthan platebody

- Whip / G Guthan spear / Saradomin Godsword (hopefully for spec only)

- Dragonfire Shield / Dragon Square shield / Obby shield / Granite shield

- Guthan platelegs

- Dragon boots / Bandos boots

- Barrow gloves / Zamorak bracers

- Warrior ring / Ring of life / Bezerker ring

- Quiver should be left empty

- Firecape / Trimmed skillcape / Skillcape / Obby cape

Note: For all gear setups I recommended a Zamorak item. That's because the best place to get your KC is where Zamorak monsters raid.

You may wonder why I decided that dragon boots should be taken instead of Bandos boots.

Dragon boots gives an excellent 4+ strength bonus, and only costs 300k. Bandos may give slightly better defence stats, and a very little prayer bonus, but costs 5 times what dragon boots costs.

Besides, if you want protection from Bandos minions ... Why would you even want that!? Your inside the Bandos area for literally 5-10 seconds, you you will take minimal damage anyway with mage pray on. There is absolutely no real good reason to choose Bandos boots over dragon boots.

[Tip: A Guthan tanker may want to bring a Godsword instead of Whip + DFS, so that they can attack the boss efficently when they are at full hp, since there is no need to heal. However, if you feel you need the extra defence, take the Whip + DFS, it all depends on the person.]

Your inventory as a Guthan tanker should be made up around these things:

Hammer

Teletab

One or two sharks

10 Saradomin Brews

10 Super restore potions

Rest can be summoning pouches

Note: This is a basic setup, you can altar it in anyway way you wish.

Of course, you will run out of supplies quite soon. So, therefore your team will feed you (Give you brews & restores). Having high Quest Points is essential, so that you can take more wealth every 15 minutes. I recommend having at least 160.

A great thing about Guthan tanking is, that you can get the greatest Godsword teams. I understand why people dislike tanking, but really; It isn’t that hard, people! Every team needs tankers, so you can basically choose whichever team you want. Now, that’s what I call advantage!

The Attacker

Probably the easiest role to play in whole Gwd.

Range pray, Piety, use your Godsword, start attacking, repeat. This is so easy, and everyone can do it. That’s also a reason why Bandos is so popular.

A team with a good tanker and 4 Godswords can take him down in a matter of seconds. And yes; I do recommend the Godsword at all time. It is much better against high lvl defence monster, and you doesnít get much higher than Graador, than the whip is. Sorry to everyone who can’t afford it.

I think the Godswords working best here is all besides Saradomin (unless you are tank). Saradomin is mainly good for Saradomin GWD and slayer training.

This is how you should use your specs from the Godswords:

Zamorak – Freeze Strongstack, and move away, so that he will do no damage during the kill.

Armadyl – Spec whenever you can

Bandos – Spec in the beginning of the kill, so that his defence is lower for the rest of it.

Attackers should wear Black Dragonhide / Karils top to avoid taking too much damage from Steelwill, the mage.

Whenever you’ve killed Graardor, turn on prayer according to the minion attacking you. If they all like you that time, turn on magic as that will hit you the hardest. Start killing the minions; Im not going to give you an order. Just to the same as your team, to get them out of the way as quick as possible.

Eventually use the altar, and if not, get to the eastern wall, or south eastern corner. These or the two primary spots used. Graardor spawns in the mid-west, so south corner is in my opinion the best place to stand.

Once tanker has attacked, turn on your range prayer + Piety and start killing him. DON’T START DOING MINIONS BEFORE GRAARDOR IS DEAD. I’ve been on teams where they left when he was redbarred, leaving the tanker to kill him. That does not work, and it will kill your trip.

This is what I recommend wearing as Bandos attacker:

- Netiznot helm

- Fury / Zamorak stole / Amulet of Glory

- Karils top / Zamorak Dhide top / Black Dhide top

- Bandos tassets / Melee Barrow legs (Torags / Dharoks etc.)

- Dragon boots / Bandos boots / Rune boots / Climbing boots

- Godsword / Whip

- (If Whipping) DragonFire Shield / Obby shield / Dragon Square Shield

- Quiver should be left empty

- Barrow gloves / Zamorak bracers

- Firecape / Trimmed skillcape / Skillcape / Obby cape / Zamorak Mage Arena cape

For people with low attack, 80 or less, Verac set is also an opportunity. Bring the full set, and basically use other suggestions here.

Remember! For all gear setups I recommended a Zamorak item. That’s because the best place to get your KC is where Zamorak monsters raid.

Your inventory should be around this:

Hammer

Teletab

One shark or two

10 Saradomin brews (mainly to tanker)

10 Super restore potions

Rest can be summoning pouches

Note: This is a basic setup, you can altar it in anyway way you wish.

Final Word

Hopefully by using these methods you will become a successful player at Bandos. Just be patient, and hopefully all the riches will come rolling in.
