First Steps

When you first create your character your will start on tutorial island, if this is your first time playing I urge you to pay attention, if not you can fly through this or get the just out of it.

Some things you don’t get taught in Tutorial Island is the fact that you can click on the mini-map to move too. There is also the World icon around the map that if clicked will bring up a large map of the entire area, showing you where you are and all the surrounding area near you (plus you can move it around to see more.) Plus Tutorial Island doesn’t teach you about all the skills you have available to you (benefits of leveling them) which I will talk about later (This Site can also help.)

First Few Hours

Now you should arrive in the town of Lumbridge (map here for references.) Take the bridge near you to the west and (using your melee weapon and also using the stab combat stance) kill goblins until your attack skill is 8 or you have 200 coins (whichever comes first). MAKE SURE YOU DON’T DIE! IF YOU DO ALL THIS WILL BE FOR NOTHING! If you get to 3 health, run, find a safe place and right click the run/walk icon and click rest, you will heal up and when you get to full go out and fight again. (the heal isn’t a very quick one but still will heal you although it may take a while, its better to take a lot of time then to die and waste all the time you have used up!

Attack skill 8

If you got your attack skill to 8 but still have some coins head north on the road that you were killing goblins near until you reach what looks like a cow farm. Go inside. The next part is simple, switch to slash combat stance (or whichever one says it gives strength xp) and start killing cows. With each kill collect the cow hides (if you want you can bury the bones too). If you have a axe and tinder box with you can also cook the raw beef to heal yourself. Once you have an inventory full will cow hides (and the stuff you were carrying DROP THE BOW AND ARROWS) go back to the road and continue north and go to the town of Varrock and get to the place called the Grand Exchange (Grand Exchange not on the map I provided but is on your in game world map). Once there find the man on the outer ring of the circle that is the Grand Exchange (closer to the bottom of it name not available). Talk to him and listen to his tutorial (REQUIRED) upon completion go to one of the Grand exchange traders near the middle and talk to them and ask to check your Grand Exchange (not collect).

Inside the grand exchange you should see 6 boxes (only 2 are clickable if you on a free account) click on “sell” in the first box. Now a new menu should pop up, in your inventory click on a cow hide now inside the menu click “all” from there try to figure out how to lower the price you charge to minimum amount. Click okay or confirm. Now you should be back at the original menu and there will be one of the boxes filled with a orange (or green if you lucky) bar signifying that the action is up and is being sold. It shouldn’t take too long for that bar to become all green. Once it does click it and click the money (skip to The Next Days)

200 Coins

If you got 200 coins head north on the road to where you fight head north on the road that you were killing goblins near until you reach what looks like a cow farm. Go inside. The next part is simple, stay in stab combat stance (or whichever one says it gives attack xp) and start killing cows. With each kill collect the cow hides (if you want you can bury the bones too). If you have a axe and tinder box with you can also cook the raw beef to heal yourself. Once you have an inventory full will cow hides (and the stuff you were carrying DROP THE BOW AND ARROWS) go back to the road and go south until you come to a gate with 4 guards near it. Pay them to go through it and head to the town of Al Kharid. Find the bank there and deposit all your cow hides into there. Continue this process until you have 200 cow hides or have only 10 gold left and at the bank. When either one happens get to the Al Kharid bank and talk to the teller to access you bank account. When at the bank menu click on the button that says something like withdraw notes. Right click on the cow hides and click withdraw all. Go back to the road and continue north and go to the town of Varrock and get to the place called the Grand Exchange (Grand Exchange not on the map I provided but is on your in game world map). The Next Days

Continue the process you used until your strength is 8, attack is 10, and defense (use defensive stance to make this increase) is 10. Now becomes the part you’ve been waiting for… GRABBING THE GEAR!

Go to the Grand Exchange and talk to the teller, this time however click BUY! Once you click it don’t do anything but type in this word Black (not racial reference.) Near the chat box you should see a list of gear find one of the following Black Long sword, Black Plate shirt, Black leggings, Black full helm, or black shield. That’s your basic gear. Repeat the process until you have 4 boxes filled with the gear your trying to buy (only 2 if on a free account) or until you have all the gear. This process will take a while

What is Coins used for:?

Well by reading this you should have figured something out for I gave you many ways to use it.

What are Skills used for?

As for the skills I referred to Strength increases the damage you do when you hit, attack increases the chance you will do damage, and defense increased the chance you will block or not take damage.

What Now?

From here on out you’re on your own. Make sure you have a nice balance between attack and strength. There are other guides out there to help you past the first few days you have been playing, but really all that’s left is get better gear, kills some players in PvP (player vs Player) areas (on PvP realms), do some quests, but most of all just have fun with the game. Try out some of the other skills, learn new things, and explore. If I make another guide past this I’ll make a reference to it in this one, but for now this is all I have.
