RuneScape: The Secrets Behind PKing – Part 1

My pure makes around 300k every half an hour on a f2p world. How do I do it? Its just all down to tactics preformed correctly at the right time. This is part one of three guides where I will revel my secrets to success.

This is the most commonly know ‘piking’ method and therefore the least effective against any type of experienced ‘pker’, though most deadliest against anyone who is not. It can also be highly successful when your opponent briefly loss focus or faces a short spell of ‘lagg’.

Now picture you are in a fight either using scimitar or a bow and you keep lowering your opponent to 25 hp or less. You are about to hit them let again below 25 hp but know they will eat just before you can hit them again. As you pull your scimitar/bow back to unleash this attack you immediately swap to a 2h. This produces a stacking effect where 2 or more hits are counted on top of each other and therefore can lead to un-expectably high damage being given in less than a few seconds and sending your opponent to lumbridge.

The timing of this switch is one of the most important factors to consider, do it too early and the person will eat some food beforehand, do it too late and you may have missed your chance altogether. It is hard to prefect, watching some youtube videos may help but this is no replacement to getting some first hand experience from actually practicing it in a real fight.

Before the fight you must remember to set your fighting style as ’slash’ as this produces the best results with both a scimitar and 2h. You will also want to have drunk some strength potion and to have turned any prays on before you take out your 2h. Thus creating maximum impact and vastly improving your chance of getting that kill.

Less commonly know is you can use an alternative from using a 2h. A battle axe attacks even faster (though will not hit as high), so you have an even greater chance of hitting them before they manage to eat. So more adventurous players mix what weapons they use which can also prove to be effective.

Why is this method so effective? Fighting in RuneScape follows a set rhythm, I hit, you hit etc. With each weapon following a certain attack rate. A scimitar hits at a rate of 1 and a 2h hits at a rate of 1.7 therefore you can almost get two hits of a scimitar for every one hit of a 2h. By switching your weapon just before hitting you are effectively changing this rhythm by sneaking in a better weapon (i.e. a 2h) at the previous weapons rate (i.e. the scimitar) which can easily take your opponent un-expectantly. Now image you can hit around a 12 with addament arrows and around 26 with a rune 2h. Add these together and you can hit 38 in no more than a few seconds. Deadly huh?

Very nice guide i like pking i fail at it though…. occasionaly i get a kill not often though. I have 80 strength 70 attack 65 defence level 89. I have always wondered how people do the two hits in one thing i have tried but with my laggy computer and my bad reactions. One other thing in pvp i never seem to max out with 2h anyway out of the max 26 i can hit the max i’ve ever hit in pvp is 23 so yeah hopefully ill get better.

The reason you can only hit 23 is because unlike most monsters on rs players have a def level/amour on which reduces ur damage.

    Hope that helps,

I COMPLETELY fail at PvP…I just can’t do it. The most experience I’ve had with it is running around collecting vials. That’s fun!
