RuneScape Travel Guide 1: Karamja (Free Play)

Just off the shore of port Sarim, filled with jungles and a large volcano, Karamja is one of the greatest places in the game. There is much to do, make money, train combat and fother secondary skills.

Economy

There are many lobsters and swordfish to be caught, these are very valuable on the grand exchange. The only downside, is the lack of a bank on the island. But this is the curse of the free world. Aside from fishing, there are no other profitable activities on the island exept for a small reserve of gold in the volcano, just next to the entrance.

Combat Training

I find this place to be one of the greatest places to train combat in the free world. You can basicly live on the island. All you need is 30gp to go, an axe, tinderbox, weapons and armor and fishing gear (net, bait, cage or harpoon). Once you arrive, you will see two regular trees nest to the banana hut, cut one log and keep it with you. Then go fish and fill your inventory, while cooking fish on your fire. (NOTE: you may also not bring an axe or tinderbox and simply go in a populated world, waiting for someone else to bring fire, but i prefer to depend on myself) then work your way towards the volcano killing monkeys, snakes, and scorpions. This is for the lover levels, if you level is high enough, you may enter the volcano and fight skeletons. if these are too easy, you may move on to the red spiders and if you are confident enough to take on level 80 lesser demons, fight them. Once your food runs out you can simply cut a new log, go fish and cook your next food supply.

Secondary Skills

There is a small gold mine in the volcano that can allow your mining level to increase, but the main skills are fishing and cooking, by catching and cooking your fish, then selling them to the general store or players, you will quickly increase your fishing and cooking levels as well as earn a small amount of money on the side.

Quests

There are no quest starts but you will find yourself sent to karamja a few times for things such as banana rum and elvrag the dragon ( he is in crandor, but crandor is linked to the kramja volcano, so it is the only way back after that quest.
