RuneScape: Tutorial Island Guide
Starting on Tutorial Island? A bit confused? Want the best tips? Read here, now! Please comment, and click “I Like It!” if you liked it!
When you log on first, you’re going to design your character. Using the 4 tabs at the top, choose how you want your character to look.

Make sure what you have is what you like! This is the only time (unless there’s a special promotion) that you can choose your appearance for free.

Note: Burn My Toe is my alt for pictures and guides, etc. Fun name, eh? His character is a boy.
When you’re done, click on the Runescape guide, indicated by the yellow arrow on his head.

He will talk to you, and show you the Options tab. Then talk to the Runescape guide again, and he’ll tell you to open the door and go to your next tutor! Just follow the yellow arrows on your map.
Next, you’ll talk to Brynna, the survival expert.

She’ll give you a Tinderbox and a Bronze hatchet, and show you where your Inventory tab is. You can carry 28 things in your inventory.

By clicking the tree, you’ll use your hatchet and get some logs.

Use the Tinderbox on the logs to make a fire. After that, you’ll learn where your Skill Stats tab is.
FUN FACT: If you noticed, by the Runescape guide’s building, there are two larger trees, called Oaks. These you can only cut if you get higher Woodcutting level (15), so be sure to check them out when you’re on the main island! There are also higher-leveled hatchets you can get too, on the mainland!

FUN FACT: Whenever you Firemake, you always move from East to West!
Then you’ll get a net, and you’ll fish some shrimp from the pond.

After you catch one, click the shrimp and click the fire to cook it. You may burn it, if you do, drop the burnt one, catch another one and try again!
TIP: Before you go on to your next tutor, max out your stats on Tutorial Island! Keep Woodcutting until level 3, then use the Tinderbox on your logs until you get level 3 Firemaking. Keep Fishing shrimp until level 3, and keep cooking your shrimp until you have Cooking level 3! These extra levels will give you a slight advantage to other new players!
FUN FACT: In Tutorial Island, you have to keep clicking the water to get more fish, and keep clicking the fire to cook them. On the mainland (Runescape), you can just click once to get an inventory-full of fish, or cook multiple fish for quicker cooking!
Once you’re done, you can go on to your next tutor.
FUN FACT: The max level you can get in any skill on Tutorial Island is level 3, so don’t train the skill after you reach level 3. You can usually go back to a previous section of the island.
Next, using the mini-map, you follow the arrow and learn another way of cooking. Make the dough from the flour and water by clicking one on the other.

Then use the dough on the range to make bread. You may burn it. If you do, just get more materials from the cook and try again!
You’ll then learn about the Music tab. You can unlock more songs by traveling and doing different things in the land of Runescape! And after that, you’ll learn about the emote tab. You can use emotes to express feelings, when you’re bored, or just to goof off with friends! You can also unlock more emotes by doing different things in Runescape.

Do an emote, and then learn about running. Run to your next tutor.

The Quest guide will show you the Quest Journal tab, and explain how there are quests to do in RuneScape. I have a lot of different guides to quests – here.

The Quest guide will then tell you to go down the ladder.
In the dungeon, you’ll meet the Mining instructor, who will first tell you to prospect the rocks to find out what ore is inside them. You’ll find tin and copper.

Once you tell the instructor of your findings, he’ll give you a pickaxe, so you can mine some tin and copper.

Once you mine them, put them in the furnace to make a Bronze bar. This is called smelting, and it goes towards the Smithing skill.
FUN FACT: There are tons of different pickaxes and ores for you to get on the mainland!
To make your weapon, you always need a hammer, which the guide will give you. Use the bronze bar on an anvil, and a screen will pop up. In Tutorial Island, you can only make a Bronze Dagger. So make it for more smithing experience!

TIP: Once again, like before, try to get your mining and smithing up to Level 3 before you move on, for that advantage! (You’re going to have to mine more, because you usually get more experience Mining than Smithing in Runescape)
FUN FACT: While on Tutorial Island, you can only smelt one bar at a time, on the mainland, you can do multiple, so there’s less clicking!
After going through the gates, you’ll meet the very high-leveld Combat instructor.

He’ll show you the Equipment tab, and show you how to wield your dagger you made.

But he decides you should get a shield and a sword, and he gives them to you.
Next, you learn about the Combat Styles tab. Each weapon has it’s own combat style choice. Different styles give you different experience such as Strength or Defense. There are also different types of ways you will attack with the weapon, such as Stab or Slash. I chose Lunge (Stab/Strength), and got attacking!

TIP: Pick up all Bones and Bronze Arrows on the ground! Bury the bones for Prayer Experience, and keep the Arrows for Ranging later!
For each hit you hit, you get 4 experience. If you want, you can use your Shrimp or Bread to heal hitpoints. Once you leave the rat pit for melee fighting, you can’t get back in, so you can’t get bones anymore from Ranging (coming up).

FUN FACT: Don’t worry! You can’t die in Tutorial Island! So if you fight rats, you’ll always have at least 1 Hit Point!
TIP: Get your Prayer, Attack, Defense, and Strength to Level 3 here in the Rat Pit! This is the only chance you can do this, and if you do, you’ll be Level 5! It may take a while, but it’s worth it, since you can’t die.

(Every now and then you’ll get this big annoying yellow arrow if you choose to level up. Just ignore it.)

FUN FACT: You’ll reach the level 50 milestone if you train at the Rat Pits!

Once you’ve trained in the rat pits, talk again to the Combat instructor. He’ll give you a bow, and if you didn’t pick up any arrows, he’ll give you 50 arrows. To get more, use the drop trick. Drop the arrows he gives you, then talk to him again for more.

If you want to get 3 Ranging before the tutorial is over, I suggest getting 200-250 arrows. I like using Rapid when I Range, just because I’m impatient. But you can use Accurate if you don’t have enough arrows, or just want more accuracy, but slower hits. I don’t reccomend Longbow.

Once you’re done ranging the rats, click on the ladder to go up.

Next, you will learn about banking. You can store up to 68 individual items in your bank. If you have two pots, that counts as one spot. Storing items in banks keeps them safe no matter what.

Shortly after that, you’ll talk to a Financial Adviser. He’ll have advice on how to get money in RuneScape, but of course I’ll cover that in much more advanced and faster money-making ways. ;D
Almost done! Next go to the Chapel and talk to Brother Brace who will teach you about Prayer, a very useful but hard to train skill. You get Prayer experience from burying bones (such as bones from monsters like rats!) He will show you the Prayer tab, and you can see what Prayers you can use.

To use a prayer, click it. Your prayer points will run out depending on the prayer, how many prayers you’re using, and equipment you wear. Once your prayer lowers, you can recover it by praying at an alter.

He will also tell you about your Friends and Ignore list. Your friends list is used to message friends when they’re online, and to give ranks on Clan Chat. The ignore list is used to ignore a player. None of the players text, trade, or assist requests will show up in your chat. Usually this is used for someone who is annoying you, or a rule breaker.
One more!! Follow the arrow to the Magic instructor, who will teach you about the Magic skill. He’ll show you you’re final tab, the Magic tab. The tab highlights spells you can used, based on level, and runes you have. The tabs at the bottom right corner are used to filter the spells on your list.

The Magic instructor will give you 5 mind and 5 air runes. You can keep asking him for up to 25 of each Mind and Air runes. Once you get 25, you can use the drop trick to get more.

To get to Level 3 Magic, you need about 35 Mind and Air runes. Cast Wind Strike on a Chicken by selecting the spell, then selecting the Chicken. You can level up to Level 3 by continually doing this.

FUN FACT: You can also Range the Chickens.
Yay! You’re done! If you got Level 3 in everything, this is what your stats should look like.

When you want to join the world of RuneScape, talk to the Magic instructor again and you can use Home Teleport to get to Lumbridge in RuneScape!

thanks, helped me restart my character… good tips
funiforever – thanks, that’s what I was aiming for. :]]
what if u cant get 35 wind and mind spells on level 3?
Sorry? I sort of don’t get your question. I don’t know if tutorial island still exists, but you can ask for more, or drop them and ask for more. After level 3 you can’t level up anymore.
