RuneScape: Types of Pures, and Their Advantages
This is an article describing and showing you the different types of pures in the lands of RuneScape.
What’s a Pure?
A Pure – is a combat oriented character, who’s defence level is one while his primary combat skill is very high. This keeps the character’s combat level low, thus letting him hit high on PvP Worlds. Today you will find many types of pures roaming the worlds of Runescape, and I will be listing a few of them.
The Strength Pure
The strength pure is the most common type of pure on Runescape, because it is very easy to maintain. Unlike rangers and mages, the strength pure does not require arrows or runes to fight, therefore – less money spent! Strength pures have up to level 40 attack, A high strength level, and 1 defence. They are not dangerous if they are below level 30, and can be beaten by mages and rangers at that level. After level 30 combat, most of them will have 40 attack, letting them wield the rune scimitar. This is when the strength pures really excell over other types of pures. The strength pure is commonly known to carry: A full iron set, A Scimitar, A Strength Amulet, A Strength potion, and Food.
The Range Pure
Range pures are less common in Runescape, as they take a bit more patience and money to maintain. The running costs of a range pure are the arrows, which can get expensive at a high range level. The range pure uses Ranged attacks, thus letting it attack other players from a distance. The range pure is not that dangerous at levels 20-25, yet that changes as the pure passes the 25 mark, and gets level 40 ranged. The pure is the most dominant at combat levels 25-35. After those levels, ranged pures usually gain attack and strength levels to be able to knock out opponents with 2 handed swords. The range pure is commonly known to have: A Shortbow, Arrows, Dragonhide chaps and vambraces, An Amulet of Accuracy, A 2 handed sword and Food.
The Mage Pure
Mage pures are the least common in Runescape, because of the significant amount of gold needed to maintain it. The running costs of a mage pure are mostly runes. High levelled runes cost a lot of money, so most mage pures are also skillers. The mage pure uses Magic attacks, which can deliver abnormaly high hits at a low magic level. The Mage pure is dominant at combat levels 20-40. After level 40 combat the mage pure will get killed by rangers. The Mage pure can use the Bind spell, which freezes running players in their spot for 5 seconds, letting the mage knock a few precious hitpoints. The Mage pure is commonly known to carry: Full wizard robes, A Staff, An Amulet of Magic, Combat Runes, Bind Runes, Weaken Runes and Food.
The Defence Pure
Defence pures are extremely uncommon in Runescape. They have level 1 attack and level 1 strength, and a high defence level. They are not useful in Pvp worlds, but are feared in the Duel Arena. In the Duel Arena, a person may challenge a defence pure, thinking he is an evened out character, however when it comes to the actual fight, he won’t be able to hit him, because of the high defence level. Defence pures are really hard to level up, as their maximum hit is 1. A defence pure is known to carry: The Highest armour for their defence level, A rune dagger and an Amulet of defence.
The Prayer Pure a.k.a. The Monk
Prayer pures are quite common in Runescape at high levels. Prayer pures share level 1 defence, and either 25 or 44 prayer, and Attack/Strength levels. Prayer pures are easy to maintain, however, leveling up prayer needs money if you want it done quickly. Prayer pures don’t need to worry about losing their weapon if they’re skulled, because they can use Item Protect. Prayer pures are the most powerfull at their high levels, as that’s when they can use Protect from Melee. Prayer pures are commonly known to have: A Scimitar, Full Monk Robes, A Training Shield, An Iron Full Helm, A Holy Symbol, Strength Potions and Food.

how come a defence pure carry a rune dagger? change it
i play rs and currently use a defence pure, is it better to stake 1 def pures and fake to be a 1 def pure then put on ur good armour in the fight? and turn off forfieght? reply to me… on rs
Z_A_D_0_M the o is a number zero (0)
personally i think the hybrid or range/2h pures are the best
i am a ranger/2h and it owns with the ko!
umm wrong about the prayer/melee dudes. they get their prayer typically to 31. no higher no lower (for the 15% strength buff)…
wrong, most strength pures have 52 prayer 75 attack 90+ strength and 1 defence.. and for other readers out there get strength and attack up high leaving defence one then you can get range/mage high without leveling making an ownage pure. for examples go to youtube and type i xx xx xx i, or i controlz i.
def pures ftw i killed like 7 peeps in 20 mins i lost 1 out of 8 lol cant wait to do it somemore woot next i might go to a pvp to piss pkers off lol
damn, really good guide man
how likely wud a hybrid be 2 succeed if they had high atk, mid str, and high mage?
Nice guide but for the def pure why’d you put the rune dagger isnt it supposed to be a Iron Dagger? thanks
