RuneScape: What Equipment Should My F2P Pure Have?

When Pking, two accounts of the same combat levels are usually so evenly matched that the slightest advantage can be the difference between winning or losing a fight. So bearing this in mind I have written a guide showing what equipment a pure should be wearing to maximize their advantage. A pure on RuneScape is an account which has one def therefore all this equipment can be worn by them.

Team cape – Slightly better than a normal cape though harder to get one from the GE. I suggest you go to the cape man near clan wars if you are having problems buying one on the Grand Exchange.

Leather boot or stronghold boots – Leather boots are cheap and easy to get at Varrock clothes shop. Stronghold boots are slightly better than leather but require you setting a bank pin, recovery questions etc. to get and if you die you must go a fetch another pair every time. Personally I think this is too much of a bother for a very slight improvement but its up to you.

Iron platebody or monks robes – If you use pray then I recommend you use a monks robe (top), however if you don’t then an iron plate body is best.

No shield – If you are a ranger then you can ignore this step altogether but for those of you who use a scimitar I suggest you don’t waste your cash on a shield. Not only does it take up extra food space but also every time your 2h switch fails it is one extra item to put back on.

D hide chaps and vamps – Providing you have got 40 range, which if you haven’t then it is worth getting, you can wear d’hide items minus the body. These not only offers superb protection all round but also against dreaded magers who at a low level can hit much higher in the combat triangle.

Amulet of power – This both the best amulet when ranging and melee and is fairly easy to buy on the Grand Exchange.

Great tips! I never use boots when PKing because it won’t do much changes. I like your point that wasting money on Rune Armor won’t do much changes at all.
