Seven Simple Solutions to Your Money Woes on RuneScape: Part 2
This is the second part of my Runescape F2P Money making guide, if you haven’t read the first part, the link is below.
First Part of Guide
Solution 3: Superheating Mithril Bars

A Player (me!) using the spell Superheat Item.
This method is very similar to that of Solution 1, however requires less running, Level 50 Smithing and Level 43 Magic.
Once you reach Level 50 Smithing, you are able to smith Mithril Bars. This requires one mithril ore and four coal (two more than steel). Now you can either mine these or buy them from the GE. I suggest buying.
Before you buy anything, make sure that you check this table to make sure that you will be making a profit.
The prices of the raw materials and created materials when superheating fluctuate often due to supply and demand. For example, when this article was written, for each Mithril Bar superheated you would lose 26gp, however last week you would gain around 40.
Now, if you have looked at the table, and are going to make a profit, I suggest buying/having the following things:
- Staff of Fire
- Between 100 and 500
- Nature Runes
- Mithril Ores
- 4x Amount of Natures Runes of Coal (Eg. 100 Nature Runes = 400 Coal)
Once you have these things, wield the Staff of Fire and put your Nature Runes in your inventory. Now, withdraw six mithril ore and then twenty coal. I suggest that your organise your inventory like this:

By placing the extra mithril ore in the spot that I have, you only have to move the mouse a small way from the Superheat Item spell button to the ore. As it uses the first ore in the invent, this extra mithril ore stays there for the whole time you are using this method, well until you get to the last invent.
If you want to, you can place a random item in the empty spot so that you can use the ‘Withdraw All’ function on the coal.
It is suggested that you do this method at the GE, standing within non-moving range to the bank. However, if you have the materials you can do this near any bank.
The thing that I like about this method is that it trains your Magic and Smithing levels, AS WELL as making you money! It’s a win win situation.

Solution 4: Crafting Guild Gold Mining
If you have been playing Runescape for a while, then you would know that Mining is a great way to make a profit as the ores sell very well. However, once you start mining Iron, Coal and Gold there are many players who want ores too, some of which may have a higher mining than you.
The solution to this problem is to first spend a little bit of time getting your Crafting to level 40. This isn’t that hard to do, although you may lose a bit of money. I personally got from around Level 25-40 by first buying Silver Ore, smelting it into bars and then crafting into tiaras. Lost a bit of money though. However, in the end it is worth it.
So once you have got 40 Crafting you can then utilize the Crafting Guild which is located south of Falador (see map below).

You will need a Brown Apron to enter the guild. These can be bought from the Varrock Clothes Store which is opposite the General Store.
So wear what else you like including the apron, equip a Rune Pickaxe, empty your inventory and head to the Crafting Guild. The good thing about the Crafting Guild are the plentiful mining rocks. There are 7 Gold rocks, 6 Clay rocks and 6 Silver rocks, which make it one of the best F2P mining spots.
So basically all that you do now is mine Gold, working in a circular motion. You can just mine random rocks as they respawn, but circular works a lot better as you know which rock will respawn next.
The main problem with this method is that you may have some trouble finding worlds in which the Crafting Guild mining spot is empty. If you find a world with someone in it, be polite and leave rather than competing. Just keep looking for an empty worlds, there is bound to be one.
Note that the Crafting Guild is a safe spot in PvP, so you could possibly mine in those worlds, either risk a run to the bank or switch worlds and then bank.
The Lumbridge Explorer Ring 3 will be useful in shortening the trips to the bank as you can Cabbageport to the cabbage field just north of Draynor, and then back from the bank.

Solution 5: Woodcutting
For many seasoned Runescape players, Woodcutting is old hat. In this method you simply cut down trees and then sell the logs. This can be done from a very low Woodcutting level as even normal logs are worth a little bit of money.
Best Ways to Make Money Using Woodcutting:
Level 1 – 20: Cut Normal trees. The best place for this would be just South of the GE.
Level 20+: Cut Oak Trees. Good places for this are just outside the Varrock East Gate and East of the Draynor Village Bank. Watch out for Jail Guards if you are cutting at Draynor.
Level 35+: Cut Willow trees. The best place for Willows is just south of the Draynor Village Marketplace, There are 5 trees here, however there are usually lots of people in this spot so try different worlds. Another place is near the Lumbridge General store, selling the logs to the store. This generates less profit however.
Level 65+: Cut Yew trees at various places around Runescape. Some good spots include North of the Varrock Castle (go out East Gate at GE then go immediately North), North East of Varrock around Earth Altar and along wall and South of Falador. There are usually many people cutting Yews.
If you are looking to make the most profit, stick with Oaks as they are not as popular as Willows however they pay more. The price of Willows is very low, usually below 10gp each.
Do not switch to Yews until you are at least level 65 woodcutting, otherwise it will be a verrrry slow process and you will get beaten for logs by other players.

Well that is the end of Part 2! Part 3 with the last two methods will arrive soon. Don’t forget about Part 1!
