The Best Way to Upgrade Your Person in RuneScape
This guide tells you the best way to upgrade your person in Runescape and also gives my opinion on the best way to earn money on Runescape at the end of the article.
To meet the starting requirements you need about 3k (3000 GP) since the Grand Exchange update in December 2007, it is quite easy to get 3k in Runescape.
Starting out –
First, make your way to Varrock.

If you don’t know where that is, take a minute and overview your World Map (The Earth Button).
After making your way to Varrock, go to the Grand Exchange and talk to the guys right when you come in.

Once you have access to the Grand Exchange, buy a Iron hatchet for about 30gp
(you may need to sell a few things to get enough money).

Once you have the hatchet, go South down to the area of trees, start chopping those trees, once you have a full inventory, sell your logs at the Grand Exchange, repeat this till you have over 3,000gp.
Combat Level 3 to 10 – To begin, you should have Full Iron armour with a iron scimitar, iron hatchet, Tinderbox, Fishing Rod, and start with 1,000 fishing bait. (1 Fish bait is only 2gp each)
I would recommend fighting Goblins, Cow’s, and Chickens, to start off.

(I recommend building your attack, strength and a little defence at this point; just so you won’t die from a cow)
- While your killing Goblins, you can fish in Lumbridge and us that food to heal you. This will get your fishing and cooking upgrading as you fight, which is very essential in Runescape!
- Cows drop there own meat when killed, but that does not upgrade your Fishing, only Cooking. And you need both of those skills about even, so you won’t get ahead of yourself. So I don’t recommend fighting Cows, Goblins would be better, because they drop, Bones, Goblin Mail, Coins, and more, which can be stored in a bank and sold later at the Grand Exchange or a General Store!
-
Once your over level 20 in Fishing you can begin to Fly Fish! Fly Fishing requires Feathers which chickens drop most of the time, between 5-15 feathers each kill, assuming that you get feathers at all. Fly Fishing catches better fish. Once you can fish for higher HP fish, it’s time to move on to more higher leveled monsters!
Combat Level 10 to 20 -
I would recommend fighting Varrock guards, possibly Zombies/Skeletons, or even Dark Wizards, because they tend to drop a lot of Runes which can be sold later, or you could use them, to train magic. Varrock guards have low defence, and weak attacks, they drop Bones, gold, and other things. Zombies are very slow, have low defence because they are rarely wielding shields and other types of armour, and tend to be clumsy. Dark Wizards only have on there mage equipment, so it’s not that hard to attack high hits. But because they use magic I would recommend putting on some Leather armour, or Hard Leather from magic protection!
At this point in your Runescape life, you should be aware that your most important combat skill is strength, so work on it at this stage mostly.
- Strength which is the most high priority, determines your MAX HIT
- Attack which is second, determines how often you hit your MAX HIT; or close to your MAX HIT.
-
Defence is the last thing you should work on at this point. It determines the resistance of attacks from your enemy, the higher this the less your opponent can attack you.
-
Try to have your prayer at least 15 by now.
Combat Level 20 to 40 -
Work on your defence until 25-30, after that work on Strength and Attack until you are above Combat 40. Mostly Attack but at least have your Strength above 40 by this stage.

I would recommend fighting Black Knights near Draynor Village, they drop good amount of GP and items, and there is a bank very close to store your items! There is also a fishing spot for Shrimp and Anchovies, again, increasing you fishing level, all you need is a net. People are constantly around the Willow trees upgrading there Woodcutting and Firemaking, so there will be plenty of fires in the area for you to cook your Shrimp and Anchovies. Even though that they have armour, it’s only Black; not too strong, so swing your Mithril scimitar into that Black helm and knock it off!
Try to have your prayer at least 25 by now.
Combat Level 50 – 90 -

By this point you should have on Full Rune, that mean that you should of finished Dragon Slayer by now. I would recommend wielding the following armour and weapon. For armour, I would wear Rune helm, Rune Chainbody, Rune Platelegs, Anti-Dragon shield, and a Rune Scimitar, use Stab, it’s the Dragon’s weakness. Bring Strength potions and plenty of food, I fought the Dragon at level 53, I died with a Addy Platebody, so I strongly recommend using a Rune Chainbody. Good Luck!
Focus on upgrading you strength until you have 70 strength, then upgrade your attack to 60 also, then get your defence to 60. After that increase you strength and attack by 10. Then got strength from then on to 90 Combat!
I would recommend fighting Giant Spiders in the Stronghold of Security on the 3rd Level. They have a low defence level so you can hit your max constantly giving your stats huge increases FAST!!! They are only Combat level 50 and they only hit max of 8. Up above ground, lots of people are fishing in World 1, 3 and 4. You can either join them or pick up there drops and cook them for FREE food! I personally don’t fish myself because that would take up 2 inventory spaces for the Rod and bait, which would hold food.
Combat Level 90 to 126 -
As you increase in Combat Level past 90, you can start to attack extremely high monsters, that have amazing drops! For instant, you can got REVENANT hunting with some of your other high leveled friends! At this point it’s play time!
Congrats! You have gotten to the fun part of Runescape, if you enjoyed the adventure you can become a member and get more features to explore! You even get to build and live in your own house! Including unlocking of some of the best amour in the game; Dragon, Godswords, and other special items! You also get to fight powerful monsters, such as Mithril Dragons, Slayer Monsters, and more!
Best Way to Upgrade your Magic in Runescape -
Before you start training your magic, make sure you have at least 30HP.
The best way to train your magic is by playing the Fist of Guthix Minigame.

This Minigame is made for helping you train your magic, it gives you 1000 Element runes (Water, Fire, Earth, Wind) and 300 Catalytic Runes (Mind, Body, Chaos, Death, Blood, Nature, etc.) All you need is a Staff (Since the update you don’t need one, but it will help boost your magic attack) Mage Armour and good defence.
(I don’t like Ranging, so I can’t give you any Ranging tips, SORRY!!!) Maybe in the future I’ll update it, but only if you give me good comments and hit “like” alot!
NOW FOR THE MONEY GUIDE!
HOW TO MAKE MONEY FAST ON RUNESCAPE!
In this quick guide I will be telling you the best and fasted ways to make money when your not high enough leveled to kill powerful monsters in Runescape for there great drops!
The First Way, is to chop Yew logs and Magic logs, when you become high enough leveled in Woodcutting and if you become a member. Magic logs are 6 times more expensive so I recommend you become a member later in your Runescape life.

Yew logs are around 500gp at the time that I made this article, and I chop Yews to make my millions.
Start by chopping Normal logs below the Grand Exchange, until you get to 15 Woodcutting, deposit the logs in the West Varrock bank. Then move to the place just West of Varrock Palace, there should be 3 Oaks there, deposit the logs in the Grand Exchange bank. Then move to Draynor Village there are about 6 Willows in the area near the water. You can either bring a Tinderbox and burn the logs to get your Firemaking level up so if you become a member you can use the Inferno Axe, which chops even better than a Dragon! Or if your not interested in being a member you can just bank them and sell later.
Finally, after reaching Woodcutting 60, you can start chopping Yew trees, I chop Yews in Rimmington, there is an impressing 4 yews there, and sometimes there is nobody there!

So you can get all 4 trees to yourself! The closest bank is Falador, unless you have the Explorers Ring 3! If you do, Teleport to the Draynor Cabbage patch and bank there! In NO time you will have yourself MILLIONS!!!!
If you do decide to become a member, go to Seers Village to chop Magic Logs!
There is a bank not far away at all! I recommend going to a very low player world, there should only be a few players chopping them there!
Another and very efficient way of making cash is to PvP, other player may have very expensive armour on, thinking they won’t loose it, but you could surprise them, and attack them when your only Combat 50, but have 70 strength! Try it out, but first wear no armour if your not willing to loose any cash fast, later if you continue to win at battles, get some armour on and fight stronger players!
An Alternative Way take a little longer to get to and shouldn’t be your Main goal, that is why most people quit, because they get bored training the same thing over and over again. So mix up your money making ways, same as with Combat, don’t fight your whole Runescape life, take a vacation, and go explore the Wilderness with your friends! Or go fishing, or go on a Golf tr…Ok, maybe not a golf trip but you know!
The Alternate Way, is slowly increase your Mining level over the years of playing, in a couple of years you should get to Mining Level 85 which mean you can now mine Runite Ore. This way is better in the long run, because Runite ore is currently 13k each ore! And it probably won’t go under 10k. So you will be making 280k each inventory! That’s a bunch of money that quickly! It is also better if you switch worlds that waiting for the Ore to respond, it takes about 12 minutes for Rune ore to respond! The best way to upgrade your mining level is to mine Iron ore. Either at the East Varrock or Dwarven Mines, if you are strong enough to fight the scorpions, I would go with the Dwarven Mines, because there are 3 ores almost in a line, which is very easy to run back and forth from…

Yews are terrible money and magics are always worse xp and money.
You chop yews slow until 80
Eucalyptus logs are great xp and better money but a much better way to make money is to tan hides.
ok, sorry, im not a member yet, so im not really familiar with the member world….
How much money are those Eucalyptus?
ill look into those…
ty
I just bought back a Saradomin Full Helm by chopping yews, the helm was 1.1million at the time, so it took me about 3 days to get it back! But I now have it and I’m happy!
