The History of Jagex

The history of Jagex and their gaming releases.

?/??/1998 – Devious MUD
     Devious Mud was the beginning of what was going to become Runescape Classic.  Devious MUD was created by Andrew Gower alone and was completely rewritten and released as a beta to the public for a week. 

 October 1999 – Runescape Classic
    In October 1999 Devious MUD was rewritten with the help of Ian and Paul Gower and renamed Runescape (known as Runescape Classic today). It was then released to the public on January 4 2001.

12/1/2003 – Runescape 2
    On December 1st 2003 Runescape 2 was released as a beta until March 29th 2004. Runescape 2 had a complete rework of the older graphics with a better user interface.

2/27/2008- FunOrb
    On February 27th 2009 Jagex released another website known as FunOrb.  FunOrb features many java based games. All of these games are a lot smaller than Runescape but fun none the less.

7/1/2008
    Runescape High Detail was released as a beta to members on July 1st 2008.  Anyone who played this beta still kept all items and experience gained while in beta and was kept even after it. The new Runescape HD also came with a full screen feature allowing players to view the game on the whole length of their computer screen.

Future of Jagex:
    So here what to expect in the future of  big releases from Jagex.
 Mechscape:
    A new game, Mechscape, will be released (unknown release date). This new game started out as a rumor but it is verified that Mechscape will be released. This game will be a sci-fi type game and will have a Free-to-Play and Members Only version just like Runescape. The game has been in development for over 4 years so expect something great.

Runescape Classic Cheat Servers:
    Mod MMG has announced that Runescape Classic Cheat Servers will be released in the future.  They will be exactly the same as Runescape Classic but players will be allowed to spawn items and advanced their levels to whatever they want. The current Runescape Classic Servers (non-cheating ones) are still going to be available to players from Runescape Classic.  It has be announced that the RSC cheat servers will not have updates.
