The Real Problem with RuneScape
The negative affects of the Grand Exchange and the Trade Limit.
I remember the good old days of Runescape; free trade and an online world that resembled the real world. No Grand Exchange, no price check and no trade limit. My friends and I used to have a great time.
The reason all these limits were put in place is because there was too much scamming and people were hacking money into the game. It’s a shame that this was the only way JagX could stop this hacking because it really put a damper on the way many people enjoyed the game. I had a little business going of buying and selling goods. It was a good way of making a profit. My friends and I weren’t hacking but we still got affected by the trade limit. Ever since the Grand Exchange and trade limits were put in place, many people including my friends and I quit the game. The one thing that attracted us to the game was the fact that it wasn’t just another shoot-em-up multiplayer game but a whole world where you could do most anything you could do in real life.
Also, the trade limit and Grand Exchange have put huge dampers on the social interactions in the game. It’s no fun going to the Grand Exchange to buy or sell goods. It was always amazing finally getting into the packed world 1 and going behind the Varrock west bank to trade your goods. It was incredible to see all the people all spamming their sales pitches. There was so much that you could barely keep up with it on the text screen. Now that trading is almost obsolete, it is vacant behind the varrock west bank and you have to go to the boring Grand Exchange.
One thing Jagx has also done to further their thirst to end all trading fun on Runescape is made all holiday event prizes non-tradable. They don’t want to put anymore santa hats out there that will eventually make millions if you keep playing and save it for a while. This and also not being able to make a profit by buying and selling goods has made it extremely hard and boring to make any money on runescape. It has caused many people to quit because they have nothing to play for anymore.
Every once in a great while I go back onto the free worlds of Runescape to check out how it has been further ruined. I never see any of the old players anymore, and instead just find new “noobs” who don’t have any memories of the old glorious days and just think that this is how runescape has always been.

true…….true

damn u jagex! bring us back our old rs!!!
How many people are on triond to pay for an rs membership?
yeah runescape is going down hill. i’m looking forward to mortal online actually
I never liked the game myself, not really my style.
Good eye to look into a game’s economy for its survival, not a lot people realize that much like the real world almost every aspect deals with the economy in multiplayer games.
The game may suck now, but people still play. And Making RS articles on Triond actually makes me some dough =]

5 things to do on Runescape when you’re bored
Very very true when Jagex brought in the idea of Grand Exchange it was maybe one of the biggest game changing things but like everything it had its pro’s and con’s old school player weren’t able to get used to it so they quit.
the limit idea was a way of jagex telling people get ur ass out there and go do some q’s done. because the more q’s u do the more the limit will be if u are a f2p the max is 10k while in p2p its 60k ive been playing runescape from 2004 or 2005 im not sure but i believe bringing the limits thing to the games was great because before the limits things i got scammed a couple of times and lost all i had. but the grand exchange was for me the best update because if u remember in the old day going to world 1 or 2 to sell items would some times take for ever until u find the specif person who wants the item u got to but now its just a matter of pressing a couple of items and it will sell automatically and i find that much easier and faster

Yeah I used to be a nerd and play this game…and I remember when I’d go to world 2 just to buy stuff cheaper than in the other worlds. Thanks for inspiring my article I’m about to right =)

seriously, if people are smart enough to scam, i say let em. it happens in the real world, let it happen in this one. not saying dont punish em. and i totally agree. trade limit killed the game for me
Are you guys stupid or something? READ THE ******* ARTICLES THAT JAGEX POSTS. READ WHY THE **** HE MADE ALL THE CHANGES.. Why must you talk about runescape and how it is a disappointment for you?
Very interesting. This is the first runescape article that has pleased me. Not a bunch of idiots who are on here for pure determination to get that 7.50 for a membership.
You have all the reason, i used to play and in old runescape, were, trade limits didn’t, exist, just think it a second, limits didn’t exist!!!!!!, but, now, you cant earn money by trading, getting money is more dificult, but as u can see, the same is happening with our lives, is getting harder and harder, you cant imagine, how simple the life was, some decades ago…
Very Good Stuff
Keep the good work on
Thanks
Best Regards
WoW So true.
GE blows.
Hmm the ep system blows
i was a very small boy when i first started playing runescape and can barely remember anything bout the good old days. but one thing i do remember was talking to people and making new friends. i went back on a few weeks ago as my friends were playing to find nobody really talked to anyone anymore. the only people they talk to are friends who also play the game. so once again i gave up. i’ll like to see what happens in a few years time when nobody plays anymore
This is ok. I do miss the old days, but there is another way how to make a lot of money in RUNESCAPE. Come and read the article I wrote. It covers the secrets of making money and leveling. ENJOY! It will be ready in a day from now.

Its horrible. It was just a game, I still dont see whats wrong with trading between YOUR OWN ACCOUNTS.
I loved merchanting and pking. Both destroyed. Were the two reasons I really played the game.
Nowadays if I log in it is very sad to see that not many people even talk now. I guess that trade limit made everyone mute too.
dude are you dumm, do you not understand why there was so many changes like wildy change and trading limit change. It is because people where selling Runescape money and doing real world trading regarding Runescape stuff. If they woulden’t have done this Runescape could have collapsed.
Now why don’t you all look at something positive about Runescape like

10 reasons why I didn’t quit Runescape
how much have u made?
There has been a lot of updates that has definitely changed Runescape a lot. Some are positive, some are pretty annoying for some player.
Check them out in : http://gameolosophy.com/games/online/runescape/greatest-runescape-updates/
i agree with money, and im on triond for a membership too. if anyone wants to give me there accounts, email me at caigew@yahoo.com
i wanted to come back to runescape after about 3 years but they have ruined the best game i ever played;
i loved buying and selling things from players; i had my regular customers and providers;
always had to pay attention for scamers and making fun of people who wanted to do free triming for me
i loved old wildy; chasing rune miners in f2p and gettin chased from the addy mines
looking for people in wildy 30+ with my 3-4 people mage group, chasing full runes down or getting chased by big clans
the base of the game is repetitive and actually quite retarded, with the way training skills works; the grafics are 1/10 compared to other mmorpg’s; but all the freedom and interaction with other people made it so fun to keep playing
now all you do is do repetitive tasks to increase skills; go at the grand exchange; i played for 2 days and the only interaction with other players was when i pk’ed a little and it went:
“whats your mage”
“whats your def”
“prayer noob”
“safer noob”
i’d rather runescape went down with sticking to the old system and having to deal with bots and hacking, then turning the game into this fail
Nice article. I haven’t played the “old Runescape”, but it sounds much better then it is now. But i dont think that Runescape would exist if there weren’t those trade limits, cuz real world trading was really popular at those times. If you have time plz visit my articles thank you =)
